Hey guy'sWhat about the Pres. George? Is it as good as the Lincoln?Isn't the Lincoln the same as the HR2510?I had a HR2510 and went hay-wire on me and a guy traded me a 2950(old style)for it and $40 bucks.I may have got took but at least the 2950 works and well I might ad. |

Stepchild, same basic radio but the Lincoln has an RF Power button whereas the 2510 has an RF gain in the same location. Both great radios. Bruce, I think you will be happy but I have not done any Mods to mine. I do know some websites that may assist you with some mods dedicated to the radio if you wish. Alsworld |

Xlaxx, NOW BE NICE TO ME! I also had the FORUMMASTER hold one for me that I will pick up when the 1st SARGANT and I drive down there for a Visit in the next couple of weeks. My HR2510 is a little over 20+ years old, so I figured I would get it a NEW FRIEND! Plan on doing the CHIPSWITCH to give it 10-11-12 Meters. Should be a VERY NICE ADDITION, to all of the other radio's I have. And for above post on MODULATION, the HR2510's and LINCOLN's I have owned have always sounded Good and LOUD on AM / SSB as well as Crystal Clear on AM & SSB, with STOCK MIC'S. I run ALL of my radio's at 85% to 90% Modulation and have never had a problem. And a BIG TUMBS UP FOR THE NEW LINCOLN's! http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?bargainsSTORE:CKIE:prodE50-10002+ Better get one quick before they are GONE! Ok you wipper-snapers ill remind you i was on AM before some of you were born! he he he .....The 100hz tuneing on ssb is very nice the NB is excelent reciver sens is NOT as good at the htx-10 or titan but on a base antenna is not a problem the only thing sofar i found was no memories no repeater offsets no tone YEA remember im a fm guy and YES i'm PICKY ! HE HE ... with the amount of lighing we get in tampabay i was looking to run something good but moderly priced on 10 meters and using the other radios for other bands now i can leave it turned on and my mfj or dr-06 on 6 fm and NOT risk the ft-100 during lighting seasion ......Ive been hit 3 times in 30 years no fun! O another copper + the skylab which i cut for 6 also works as a 3/4 wave on 2 but if you want a good match you need a antenna tuner |

I used to run a 2510 in the mobile and it was crystal clear on the receiver end with the NB/ANL switched on!!!

The Lincoln IS a 2510. There are 3 changes: 1) The RF Gain Knob is now Variable Output 2) The Mic Button is now a Loc/Dx switch. 3) The DIM Button is yellow and the Scan button is red. As far as performance, you'll never notice the differance. Just my .02 431 |

I have been using my lincoln now about a month as a base unit. It only has the channel Mod. It's a great all around unit and freq. stability is excellent. Recieve is outstanding and with Frequency control on both RECIEVE AND TRANSMIT It cuts right through the QRM. |

i had 10 titans that were bought for our 10 meter group my last one a well used one went today to a LOCAL ham who is down on his luck and i gave it to him to get him back on the air.... the 257 / htx-10 are the same i still have 3 htx-10's great radios ... the lincoln with the switchchip and the 257/htx-10 are about equal ..... but like cars every radio has a feel to it If you want a very good moble the mag 257 is superb if you want something with a more high end feel the lincoln has the edge.... |

It feels good to help your freinds, doesn't it? Bruce did you install the chipswitch yourself? Did you get the 12 meter coverage, and if so, have you made any contacts on 12 meter with it? |
bruce

Yes i installed it myself and yes the radio does cover 12 meters why i dont realy know since it dosnt say it will in the instructions. A WORD OF WARNING it is not HARD but is time and labor intensive. you must take care and a good desoldering station and working slowly taking care not to damage 60 little pads you must lift the old chip from is a MUST! This makes a world of diffrence now you have offsets. memories and dont have to pound on the band switch to go from 29,6 to 28,400! ill let you know if i get a chance to play with it on 12 ...... since i cant hear anyone on there right now. |

Keithinatlanta, A CHIP SWITCH is where you change the PLL CHIP for More Extra Channels, & Options for the radio. With the LINCOLN it will give you 10/11/12 Meters & Options for Repeaters & Spilts Hope this helps some. Lon Tech808 |

Thanks Lon. I looked at the ad and it says in the specs: UC - 1201A Chip. What is that? And what is it for, if you can answer in laymans terms where I can understand it. Also, it says MRF 455 Transistor. What is that for? Thanks. Keith in Atlanta |

Keithinatlanta, Think of the PLL chip as your brain. You have a body but you need your brain to move your arms, to walk, to talk, to drive, to eat. A PLL chip works in the same manner. All radios are pretty much the same except for the PLL CHIP. It tells the radio what to do & how to do it the easiest way. MRF-455 is the FINAL the radio has in it. Finals are made from 1 watt on up the 455 is a 60 Watt Rated Final a (GOOD ONE). Different radios have Different Finals. Both Transmit & Receive. Hope this will help some. Lon Tech808

Hello Guys, I just bought a new Lincoln 3 days ago and it is great. I also have a 2510. Try removing q111 to get fast agc and it will be even better. Nothing so far can beat either one for quite receive in the mobile. I also have a 2950dx. It's a good radio, but there are limits to what mods can be done, and receive is too noisy when mobile. Stick with your 2510's and Lincolns. |
