It's very important to have the radio equipment since we don't know what the future will hold every month with the cell phones bill... With the radio, once bought it's free for life....
This is my con on my wife..... Worked real good to... Except she doesn't like the regular 40 and you guys could guess why...

Yes I understand that problem, mine is against radio completely, I sometimes have a friend use my credit card for gas for his car and then give me cash and I keep it for radio stuff.

When still a teenager and living with my parents I bought a Yaesu FT-DX401 (veritable boat anchor that filled a standard table). About a week later when my parents questioned the aquisition I just told them "Oh that Ive had if for a while" I dont know if they bought it but they never queried the radio again.
Now adays no problems I just tell my wife we're going to buy a new piece of radio gear as soon as we have the money - helps she's into radios too.

I had to be married twice before I learned the YES DEAR routine. Now I don't have to hide my radio purchases, I just point out that I am not spending it in bar rooms or on other women!! as long as the bills are paid I can buy what I want.

"But Honey,... you can't find a radio like this anymore."

"Honey, they just don't make quality stuff like this."

"Honey, it's a heck of a deal."

"Honey, I swear this is the last thing I plan to get for it."

Can you believe it,... my wife still loves me through it all too,... I have one of the good ones.

"Hey Honey, I'll be off the Copper website in a second"

XLAXX

I tell mine "I traded for it."That usually works since she doesn't keep up with what all i've got.And then theres the big high priced stuff. That takes a LOT of begging and pleading for about 6 mo and she either gets tired of me nagging or feels sorry for me,who knows.

Stepchild I forgot the " I traded for it line" that always works good too! Most of them don't know one radio from the other, just how many you have.

My first wife hated radios. I would buy a nice base and after about a month she would start complaining, I would sell a $300 radio for $100 just to shut her up !! needless to say I had a lot of friends just waiting for the next sale!!!

There are a few CB Locals who buy an amplifier for 400 sell for 200 when the rent is due. I bought a 3 week old Xforce XT-400 for $200 in MINT condition. Whenever one these boobs buys something nice..... in 3 weeks it can be had for 50% off. A local just bought a Sig Sauer Trailside Competition .22 caliber target pistol.....when the Truck and rent payments are due I'll have it. LOL.

I bought a nice Kicker K 500 back in 1993 for 50.00 along with about 3 or 4 bases(got a very very sweet Pearse Simpson Simba base with a VFO!!) and 4 mobiles off the same guy for you guess it 50.00!!!!! He said the amp didnt work but it did and all the radios worked too as well.
As for the other half my G/F doesnt seem to give much of a hoot for radios and when i buy a piece of equipment she just rolls her eyes and does the funny little tounge click deal.... Oh well she says its better for me to buy radios than to go to the bars and stuff.(even if i dont drink)
