Boy it's been really dry here lately in Jax, Florida. There was some last friday night, the first skip in a few weeks, now there is just a bunch of hiss out there, last Saturday 4/26/03 the hiss was so bad that even the truckers going through our area thought there was something wrong with thier radios (on channel 19). It was kind of funny to listen to them talk about it.
It was some really weird atmospheric loud hissing noise no matter what channel you were on. Anyone ever experience this?

Dead in south central Texas. I'm talking 20 miles easy with a Galaxy DX66V and a palomar 225 at mid power mobile. I can hear the truckers at the pilot and petro fuel stops on I-10 across the city in the mornings it's so clear. I hear far off locals with no meter deflection at all thats how clear it is.

Well after several days of Very Little or NO Skip here in Central Illinois, It Broke WIDE OPEN last night between 6:30pm CDT and 01:45AM CDT.

Had contacts in KY, NJ, NY, GA, LA, FL, AR, TX, VA, OK, and Canada on every channel from 1 to 40 on AM.

Signals were so strong we could not get across town to locals, running S-9 to 15+.

I was useing my ANTTRON 305 & then switched to the White Lighting on the FLAT side LONG PATH.

I will be watching to see how it is in another 28 days around May 25 & 26.

Hope everybody had as good of luck as we had here in Central IL.

I always get great skip here in Wisconsin on the uppers and lowers above 40, and on the regular 40, but I do most of my shooting on ssb....it always comes up from AR, CA, WA, OR and of course Mexico. For the life of me I can never catch any waves from the southeast...

Sixkiller505-
Skip was rollin' last night. I made contacts all over the place. Tech 808, it WAS wide open for sure:

Land of Lincoln, Chicago, Macon Georgia, MD, NY, Missouri, and Kentucky just to name a few.

Today fizzled out reeeeeaaaallly bad. Only skip I heard was on AM CH.19 where ole 'Fishbone' was singing the National Anthem, the Gambler, and other Kenny Rogers favorites. Oh ya, and some body was puttin' down 10db's on me of some woman screaming having sex. Gotta love radio free USA.

You guys crack me up! :)

I just got back in town after being on the road for a week (without radio). Skip here is just a few on AM, SSB is very weak. Only had the radio on for about 1 1/2 hours but can hear that Triple K in Hawaii, some Texas earlier, and heard a buddy of mine talk to Oklamhoma City (which is unusual for us here). Not really good skip, just a few voices booming through from here and there, then it's just quiet. I guess I'll have to evaluate it a bit and get reacquainted (sp?) with my radios.
