I saw a listing on pa speakers and someone made comment on using a 1600 watt linear through the pa speaker. Is this possible and what kind of wattage range do these have? I've seen pa speakers at radio shack but I'm not sure if they'er the cheapies or what. Just curious because I've ran a pa speaker in my truck before with my cb radio and never thought of using an amp. I would think the feedback would be too much!! BoXCaR |

if it was a 1600 watt amp made for audio, i would spilit it and get multiple bullhorns at that point. that would be the PA of death |

No kidding! That would be intense! Reason I'm asking is because I think I might try and get the pa going again in the truck. I'm really getting annoyed with the local idiots that pull up and the bass is pumping so loud ir rattles my mirrors! Turn the kicker on and we'll see what happens. LOL!!!!!!!! |

hehe thats the way to do it. its funny when those riceboys think they got a fast car so they put stickers on it to make it faster. ive gotten into drag races with those chodes and most of the time my ford ranger with a stock 4.0 kills em off the line until i hit around 75mph. damn that pickup gearing |

Hey Ryan, So if I hook up the linear to the pa speaker, will it key up the amp in pa mode? I've had fun with the linear and going through the local fast food chains and bled over their speaker system but never tried pulling up to someone while their radio system is kicking. We'll stop by radio shack and see if they have a pa speaker that will handle a boomer 600. Knowing my luck I'll squeal so bad from feedback that I'll bring a squadron of geese from canada or something. Quack! Quack! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! BoXCaR |

Okay, Doesn't want to key the amp up in PA mode so I guess the linear is out of the question plus I'd probably blow the pa horn anyway!! I just thought maybe there was a way to key up the linear through the pa speaker. |

no there isnt. if you want a loud PA you gotta get an amp made for AUDIO frequencies not RF. |

Boxcar,if your're close enough to the je*** with a base load antenna and just a 50 watt amp,the rf will be picked up in the voice coil and your voice will come over it.I destroyed a guys led zepplin cassette, because everytime he plays it my voice is on it,oops, doesn't work on cds, darn,so if you are recording something valuble, don't expose it to high powered rf. |
