CM 3885,

The Link below will take you to the KLV-1000P page on COPPER.

If you are only going to have 30 Watts drive forget it.

Amp calls for 60 - 100 Watts input power.

That means a Minimum of 60 watts and Maximum of 100 watts.

This means "DEAD KEY" Watts, NOT SWING Watts

You have to have the DEAD KEY to adjust your LOAD / TUNE & DRIVE ADJUSTMENTS.

And REMEMBER you will have to re-adjust these settings whenever you change Frequency/Channels & Power settings for Maximum Performance.

I would suggest starting with between 60 & 80 Dead Key Watts of Drive and see where you are at.

I myself would not run it at a full 100 watts drive.

As you only want to Key up for 2-3 Seconds when making adjustment's and making breaks of between 5-10 seconds your Swing watts will not help you adjust your AMP.

Your Swing watts will vary with the amount of power used to drive it, and how your radio is set up.

Read your Owners Manual Carefully. It gives you step by step instructions for adjustments.

Hope this helps some.

Lon

Whoah Silver, whoah!
I'm hoping Lon slipped a little here "That means a Minimum of 60 watts and Maximum of 100 watts.
This means "DEAD KEY" Watts, NOT SWING Watts".
Be extremely careful as that's the # 1 killer of KLVs is overdrive. Start your 2995 with a 10w carrier and lower the mike gain until it peaks at 80w. Turn on and warm the 1000p for about 3mins, then key the two together adjust the load for max carrier then tune for max carrier. What you're looking for is 200w carrier max out. If your under, key them and raise the 2995 a little until you get to 200 out of the amp. Put amp on stby and check peak of 2995 so as not to exceed 100w, preferrably 80w. Just like before adjust mike gain back to calm down the peak of the 2995.

Doing it this way you should end up with the 2995 keying 20w or so peaking 80, then the 1000 should key 200 and peak in the 900-1kw range.

I'd like to hear the specific results.

Just wanted to let you guys know what i found out!
