Picked up a old pc122 from a friend for 10 bucks and He says there is a short by the mic plug when i turn it on the Tx light is on Any suggestions on how to fix the problem.

Unplug the mic, if the tx light is still on, you will then know the problem is inside the radio,(send it to the shop)..
If the light goes off, re-wire the mic, or pic up another one... |

I hope that test wasn't made without an antenna hooked to it. The finals would live less than a minute.
