All operators in the hf spectrum had better take a look at the FCC's proposal on Power Line Communications. Broadband internet via power lines (and interference to two way radio communications) if inacted will really put a damper on both cb'ers and hams alike. This is a fairly serious matter. Take a look on the ARRL page, do a search using a search engine, whatever. Don't sit by and say it will never happen. The push is there. So is the money.

I am not trying to be redundant by posting on the open forum as well as ham/cb forum, but the more folks know about this potential problem the better. Read for yourself and decide.

Well the bottom line here is everyone start running at least 2.5 kw,unground all antennas, clip all mod limiters, and "lets roll" !!!! See how well these computers "boot" up with all this rf "floating" around !!!!!

Bruce,
You are correct and people that ignore it or think it will not have an effect on hf comminications are sadly mistaken. The interference range is(as I understand it) from about 3 mhz to 50 mhz. That means the cb band will be messed up as well as ham bands. No joke. No amount of power, mods, ungrounded antennas or the like will do a thing to this very real threat. The countries that have experimented with it have reported negative results. Unfortunately, the USA does not listen to those countries and apparently the chairman (Mr. Powell) really wants this to fly. Filing in opposition to this is easy, takes maybe 5 minutes and is worth the effort.

If your voice is not heard in this matter, you may never be heard again.
