I just orderd a NEW 2970 DX from COPPER (were else would a long time COPPER customer like me get a new rig?) and i went ahead and got the peak tune and convert for 30.00. Im curious as to what exactly they do when they peak and tune the rig? I know what the conversion consits of but im curious if im getting my $$$ worth with the peak and tune... Some online radio dealers simply convert the radio, cut this and that and thats all she wrote.. Sometimes they dont even bother with tuning the TX and RX for max perfomance...

CM 3885, How about they Peak & Tune it for maximum performance without over doing it and blowing it up. Pretty simple: PEAK = Increase Power/Modulation. TUNE = Re-Adjust/Re-Set Controls after Peaking Radio. Generally AM & SSB Copper is very reasonable, on this and you still have the Warranty Intact! If you have someone else do it and they Break the Warranty Seal, then you have NOTHING/NO ONE to fall back on should anything go wrong with the radio. That SEAL is there to Protect "BOTH" you the Buyer with any warranty problems that might arise and to also Protect the Seller from someone messing the radio up by making other improper adjustments. Just my 2cents worth. Lon Tech808 |

You know it, and them seals are hard to get back exactly too. 30.00 is cheap, I charge 40.00, but I guarantee it too for 90 days and yes I have bought a few. Thats good business though, and when you fix it you get a radio without asking the wife ! |

Do they tune the Receiver end after the radio is converted for 11 meters? |

CM 3885, I know 307 is having computer problems, and does not always checks the Open Forum, but about 1 1/5 years ago he posted exactly what you get for a peak and tune. It's not some turbo tune BS but a pretty nice tune. Warranty remains intact. It's worth the money and the limiter remains intact (which leaves you the option in the future if you happen to be one who prefers them cut/removed). Alsworld |

Nope ill leave it like it is... Those new surface mount radios are kinda alien to me to work on.. Although i did do a PPC/NPC mod to my 2995 via a mod that was sent to me by SS 8541... It works great and the limiters stay in place!!!! |

I noticed when i got my rig on the invoice it said "mobile or base quality check $30.00" instead of peak and tune. Is this the peak, tune and conversion of something else that i didnt order? Just asking.. |

CM 3885, YES, This is the Peak & Tune that you ordered. NO, It is not the conversion of something else that you did not order. Copper Customers can be ASSURED that they will Never be charged for something that they Do not order or request. NO! Modifications or Repairs will be performed on their Radio's or Equipment, unless they request the work to be done. Just a Helpful Suggestion: If you should have any Question's / Problems, on any product that you have ordered from Copper, PLEASE post them in the Customer Service area of the Forum. You will get a much quicker response to your question's as generally The Forummaster and Customer Service will check that area first. With so many post's being posted each day it takes quite awhile to go through every catagory searching & reading every post, for all of the different questions being asked. Lon Tech808 |

What i meant in what i said was "Is this the peak, tune and conversion or something else that i didnt order" I used the word "of" instead of "or" in the sentence.... I saw the quality check of mobile or base radio and thought it was something else that i didnt order.... Its all good now !!!!!!! |
