Hello I am very new to radio and I listen sometimes on 19 and hear people saying that they are lumpers and they are asking people if they need one. I am scared to ask what is a lumper on the air. I hope they are not selling drugs or other bad things. Thanks, Angel Eyes |

Angel Eyes, A LUMPER is someone you pay to unload your Box or Reefer truck, if you do not want to do it yourself. Thats why the 1st Sargant and I hauled Flatbed that way they put it on with a fork lift or crane and that is how they took it off. Lon Tech808 |

Are you sure that they did not say "Jumpers"? |

I have always thought of a Lumper as someone who hangs around warehouses and will unload and load your trucks for cash...I used to ride with my dad in the summer months in the truck and I can remember lumpers actually jumping right on your fuel tank when you would pull into the warehouses...I do also remember my dads tire thumper was nick named "THE LUMPER THUMPER" for some reason... Boy that really brings back some memories Buck |

A lumper is a person who unloads 18 wheelers at their destination ( unloading dock). They can charge anywhere from $90 to $150 for that service. They are independants. |

Dang $90-$150! I never got a lumper for less than $200. Maybe they are dropping their prices to keep up with the dimishing wages we are getting paid. |

Xlaxx, Reefer = REFRIGERATED box Van hauls your produce, meats/ Milk Dairy products & anything that need's to be cooled. Truckers have different name's for everything. Cattle/Livestock Hauler = COW Palace Flatbed = Skateboard Low Boy = Drop Deck/Step Deck Flatbed Car Hauler = Parking Lot Seat Covers = Good Looking Babes ie: HEY GUYS look at those seat covers when that 4 wheeler passes you. Chicken Lights = All those light you see on some trucks. Quallcom = that dirty little box that some trucks have so the carrier can tell everything you do, how fast your are driving and where you are at, and weather your truck is running down the road or idleing. These are just a few of the terms. Lon Tech808
