Letter in the box with the radio I just received Friday via U.P.S.

I asked ______ If I could post this , he said yes , laughing , sure...

Dear 307. I just bought this radio at the Flea Market in town , It is a Cobra 148 , The low power setting works just fine and puts out about 8 watts. When I switch the Power Amp on , it goes dead. Please repair it if it is below $50.

Response from 307: What kind of power amp did you have hooked to it , it may not be the radio?

Response, The one that is in the radio , PA?

I speak no more...

No charge....

307 Reminds of a callout I had around the time that floppy drives went to half-height ones. A Government office called complaining their A drive wouldnt read a disk. Went to the site and with difficulty kept a straight face while removing the disk that nicely inserted BEWTEEN the two floppy drives.

Or the 2 hour drive (after spending 30 minutes on the phone going thru a checklist which included making sure everything was turned on) plugging the power supply in and turning the radio on. The complain? Our cars arent hearing us and we cant hear them. Trust me they were charged for an hour service call and 4 hours travel.

I remember when I bought my RCI 2980.I got it ordered and spent the next day getting my A-99 on the push up and tied down, coax run through the house, then the big day,UPS delivered the radio and I tore into the box got it out and set it up on the side table just to make sure it was going to work, plugged it in and turned it on and....NOTHING!!!After about an hour I hit the panic button and called Copper and the first thing they ask is..Is it switched to PA?...My responce...YEP! My wife still laughs at me over that.

Jeff, I have two PA speakers mounted under my hood. I use the PA sometimes to get a persons attention. I also use it at halloween to ride around the neighborhood playing halloween tapes. The kids who are trick or treating love it. Have a great day. Whiskyrunner

im kinda disapointed in the magnum 257 and its lack of a PA. RF limited should start putting PA hookups in the 257s and then the pranksters like myself will enjoy them that much more

My Grant puts out about 60 watts when I switch to the PA setting. What's so funny about it? I think it's a great feature.(of course I'm joking)
