I wish computers were as easy to rebuild as transmitters.

Uhh, computers are easier to rebuild than transmitters.

Just when you sit down infront of it is when challenges usually occur that mot people cant fix.

Hey 833,

I can put together a computer from scratch with a raid card, 4 HDD, single processor, decent size case, 2 case fans in about 1 1/2 - 2 hours and have it configured software loaded and dual booting with linux and xp in about another 2 hours.

lets say around 4-5 hours.

Oranges to Apples,

How long would it take you to do that with a transmitter, since I havent ever built one.

Just wondering on copper forum members thoughts but how would a computer department to copper electronics sound?

I could have 2 of my favorite hobbies, both sold by the same company. hehe

I started building computers from scrach back when i got involved with the challenger program in 1990 and over the next 12 years I built dozzens for handicapped kids at the little league . As a matter of cost i have built all of mine since then the last 2 being this 2.53GIG P4 and with wifes gameing computer a 2.4gig P4 sometimes you realy dont save much money but come " FIXIT TIME" its like the old heathkits ..... i hear horror stories about store brands like 2 years later no parts and no help ....... NO THANKS.

win98 95 and ME can only use 512, and after that it doesnt know what to do with it.

Win2k and XP on the otherhand can do up to 4gigs.

Cheers,

Windows xp,hp pavilion 514n,only enough physical room for 760 megs, but it's all I need, the cd writer shares 64 megs of it.You couldn't run paltalk, msn, the cd player and download things at the same time,a blue error screen would come up,do a mini dump of memmory and shut things down so as not to destroy my system, very annoying. One other thing got rid of a program called PYTHON from the Pose corp.all greek to me,don't know how I got it,it left a lot of fragmented files,on the defragg window it showed a red bar 3/8 inch wide, defragg took care of it.

Backup-backup-backup..name of the game. I generally chuck everything on my drive to disc. Losing years worth of data is like having your house burn down when it comes to records and information, a real disaster. I had a drive go on me once when I was relatively new to PC's. Some disaster: I lost video game downloads and other worthless nonsense, but today? Whew! Can't afford that happening.

I can't seem to find a good freeware or shareware backup program that will span an archive over several cd's---anyone know an easy way to do this?
