Hello Everyone:

I am sure some of you already use this software but for those of you that do not or those that have tried it but forgot about it please give it another look. Like many of you I like to keep up and listen in on what is going on with my friends on the CB or maybe action on certian frequency's and don't always have time to liten in (I also am just plain not around to listen when out of town). So I downloaded this SCANNERVOX software and it has been very valuable in keeping me up-to-date on my listening action. This software is FREE and it is easy to use and will work with any CB/Scanner/SWL radio. What does this actually do for me you say...well, what I do is bring up this program on my PC then I set my channel/frequency on my CB/Scanner/SWL radio and set the squelch on my CB/Scanner/SWL to mute except when the frequency is in use and the PC software I set the same way with the squelch options in that program....the software will do all the rest and record all the action you normally would have missed. Again my town is small and at times not much action but I can record hours or a whole day and listen to it later at my convenience. I can usually listen to a whole days action and know what was going on but was never actually at the radio (one word of caution though these are recorded wav. files and are big if you let go to long!). This can be used a number of other ways for CB/Scanner/SWLers to see if frequencies are busy if you are away and there are many other applications. If you get a chance download the program(s) and the software is FREE...go here to get more information and see screenshots:

Once you download this software and install it on your PC then you will want to interface your CB/Scanner/SWL radio to your PC computer's soundcard. All you need to do to make this work is make a small 3 or 4 foot jumper cord that will have a 1/8 (3.5mm)/or 1/4 plug jack on one end for your phones or external speaker jack on your CB/Scanner/SWL radio and the on the other end you will put another 1/8 (3.5mm)jack that will go to your computers soundcard "in" or "mic" jack (RadioShack sells these jumps pre-made btw). That is basiclly it....download the FREE software and install it on your PC harddrive.....hook up your CB/Scanner/SWL output volume with a jumper to feed into your PC souncard in/mic...open the sofware program and set your squelch settings on both the radio/program/Winvolume controls (you would want to test this a few times and open the radio squelch yourself or find some action so you know this works...play some).....walk away and come back later to listen to all the action you would have missed otherwise.

You can also use this like a VCR to record wanted SWL programs or maybe CB Nets that are on at certian times by just using a regular on/off away light timer with the radio.....it works well also (there is another program for that too but I will list later maybe).

Just thought I would share this because I am sure many of you are hooked on radio just like me and hate to miss any of the action or told what happened while you were away...have fun.
