I have a small linier amp that is not putting out. it is supposed to be a gray 200 amp. it has a silver body w/ black lid face has "g" in the middle w/ 2 switches, 4 leds and rotary switch w/ off, low, med., high. inside it has 2 pills and a large round transformer or coil towards the back of the box. when trying to use this equipment it puts out no watts while on but will bypass when turned off. after opening the case, found that the adjustable cap mounted on the output side chokes had been hot enough to melt the solder and had fell off. repaired that and still get no output wattage. Any help on this problem or info on this unit would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Sounds to me like the RF Transistors are shot. Measure the voltage at the base of each one and you should see no greater than .8 VDC on RX. 307 |

Comptech, FYI there were many people making amps with the name Gray (also saw somew spelled Grey). Before you purchase/follow any schematics make sure you have the right unit. I'm sure 307 is right and the Transitors are shot, should be simple to replace. Just thought I'd mention this in case you ever have to service this for anything else. It can be troublesome finding the right info.... Ask the man who owned one! |
