Anyone know of a good place or website to purchase some good and heavy duty guy wire? I've bought from radio shack and they're stuff is really thin and breaks quickly. Thanks!~ |

Boxcar, Try Menards, Lowes, Home Depot or any commericial radio or satalite TV business. Call any of them that sells towers and you should be able to find it. Check Yellow Pages. And remember the Good Stuff is NOT CHEAP and most comes in 500 foot rolls now. Or go to the ROHN Tower Website and look up the nearest Rohn Tower dealer in your area. They will have everything you need. Lon Tech808 |

Thanks guys. I'll just have to make sure that I don't get the thin cheap stuff like radio shack sold because I've had to put up new guy wire twice in the last year. Storms are hitting pretty good though here in nebraska the last couple of weeks too! Batten down the hatchet cuz mother nature's got a bunch of funnel clouds a rippin' through this state boys!! Ha!!!!! |

Boxcar- Hey Mike. You should be able to find some at Beaver Crossing at the old 146.76 repeater site. The antenna use to be on the 1400 foot tower that's still standing. They used guylines larger around than your arm. I'm thinking that stuff should keep your old Penetrator vertical forever. Special Note... Rent a big truck. Your pick-up isn't going to cut it. Special Special Note... If you're going to use a hacksaw, take extra blades along and some food and drink. Possibly a bedroll for long periods of rest. Special Special Special Note... As a safty precaution, after removing guylines, take one large step backwards. Later Mike. Jeff, kc0gxz. PS:: What are the chances of you delivering my order of PL-259s "BEFORE" you do that "guyline thing"? |
