I am considering a new amp for my mobile set-up and wonder which KL amp would be best suited for my particular needs and set-up. I have a Galaxy DX959 Peaked/Tuned with stock mic and a Firestick KW-6.

Although maximum wattage is not my main concern, I do want a minimum of 100 watts.

Durability is a top priority. Considering the amps use different pills, and I talk both am and sideband with occasional long keydowns, which amp is best?

Bye the way, ...I am new on the forum and look forward to corresponding with anyone interested.

Thanks,
Kattracker

Kattracker,

I would suggest the KL300P shown in the link below.

http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodW90-KL300P+

Also please check out Tech 181's Great Review on the KL300P in the Subscriber Preview section, Product Reviews, KL300P.

He done a great job writitng and testing the KL300P.

I have a friend who is an OTR Driver and uses it for long periods of talking every nite on his run which is roughly a 600 mile round trip 5 days a week and he has no problems what ever with it.

I also use a KL300 in our vehicles and do a lot of talking. Good little AMP, Very reasonable price.

It does have a 25db pre-amp that is On all the time but we really don't mind that.

You may also consider the KL203 (100-125w). I'd suggest installing a fan on the heatsink of either the 203 or 300 if you have those occasional long keydowns.
