Ya know what I miss, that's the totally misinformed.Like the guy that buys a 2950 used and is told it puts out 90 watts by the seller and asks us for help when he can't get it,ya know things like that.Everyone has done such a good job here that most of the new posters here know more than me,like that takes a whole lot.I can help the beginner but that's about it,since there are none anymore I guess I'll just shut up and say adios,I'll come on and read the posts but keep quiet since my knowledge is redundant,I will no doubt learn something in addition to my place. It's been fun, bye.

Bigbob,

Your Tips and Information are always Welcome and Helpful.

There are a lot of New Forum members joining all the time and and a lot of information you have acquired over the years is always helpful to not just the New members but a lot of the older members as well.

That is what makes this Forum the best, Is everyones Opinion and Helpful Advice.

There is so much Radio Equipment out there that there is no way that us Techs and Moderators will ever be able to have experience with all of it.

That is why you and the other Forum Members are NEEDED!

As I have said before, You will never hear me say I know everything about anything as Iam always learning new things.

As Tech's and Moderator's, we try to offer help where we can and about equipment that we have owned or worked on, or had experience with in the past.

We also learn a lot from the members on problems's and solution's that the members have had with various products.

So you see it is a 50/50 Street.

DO Not say Adios.

If it has been fun, KEEP HAVING FUN!

KEEP POSTING!

Just my Thought's.

Lon

I don't know I thought I had heard and seen it all, but last week while driving around working I saw a TV antenna clamped in the middle of the vertical element of what looked like a 5/8 wave antenna! So I think people still do need help! I know I have questions from time to time.

There's a local 'Self Storage' place on the path I take to a particular transmitter site that has a TV antenna clamped to the top of the bottom section of their A99. Yes, right on the firberglass. I just look and giggle a little whenever I pass by. It's been that way for a couple of years. I guess they never noticed??

Tech808 is absolutely right. I have 30/+ years experience with radios in one form or another. Being in the Ham/CB business does not make me/us experts by a long shot. Don't think for one minute that I haven't learned some very interesting things here from the Techs AND members like you.

If you're anything like me, I know that you have learned many things here. My problem is, if I think I have the slightest clue about a topic, I'll chime in and give a opinion. There's no point in you leaving. It would be like quitting school.

Or, let me put it to you this way.

DON'T MAKE US COME OVER THERE. IT WOULDN'T BE PRETTY.

Welcome back Bob.

Jeff, kc0gxz.

I sure wish these forums had been around when I was first getting started with CB. There were no magazines or up-to-date books, so I had to learn by trial and error and help on the air. I got burned up pretty good a couple of times with dishonest people. There is no good reason for anyone to have to go through that now that this and other forums are around.

In some ways I DO miss those days...Every new discovery was such a thrill. Once a friend of mine lent me his ARRL "Now you're Talking" book, things started to fall into place a little more - most everything applied to 11 meter ops, and then we all began to get techie tickets, and building antennas, and so on...

The last few years the nexxus between radio and computers has been awesome to watch take place!
Things like Echolink and IRLP, and software defined and controlled radios, the forums and other radio related websites (including retail) - incredible how it has all come together!

Big Bob

The difference between a pro and a beginner is;

The pro is still learning and the beginner knows it all.

With that said, I for one would be saddened if you no longer were adding to the forum. You have opened my eyes on various subjects.
There is a hidden pun there. I am losing my eyesight, so all help is needed.
I have always felt comfortable in the realm of electricity in many areas, aircraft, automotive, radio and comerical-residential. I needed your correction. Thank you!!

This forum goes through wash-out cycles, but some of us just seem to hold on. Don't be gone for too long Big-Bob...

Bigbob ya gotta stay. This forum would not be the same without ya! Sometimes I think your comments come from left field, then I cock my head like a dog (that what the he?? look dogs give), then I see the point you made. I know I sure never thought of that and your points are very legitimate. It has saved me some troubleshooting many times just following your sound advice. Sometimes it reminds me of that movie "Slingblade", when nobody can find out why the lawn mower didn't run, and that fellow walks up and tells them "it ain't got no gas".

I think you have much more knowledge than you give yourself credit for. Please hang around to keep us straight and honest.

I would be lost with out Bigbob. This forum is like a big shape with many corners, and every member takes up a corner. If you left then it would be an incomplete shape.
