What would work better? Im looking to either mount a wilson silverload on either a stake hole mount or a mirror mount... What im doing is hooking up my old cobra 29 LTD classic in my dads 86 chevy silverado PU and ill be using my wilson silverload on either the mirror or the stake hole on the drivers side... Ill be pulling a 24' RV trailor and my G/F will be using a handheld following behind me.. |

RCI 2990, Either way will work, BUT which ever one you use make sure it is Grounded WELL. If mounting to Bed Stake hole run wire down to frame as most Newer beds are not grounded that well if at all any more. Just my thought's. Lon Tech808 |

Its a matter of personal preferenc and mine would be to use a stake mount. Have never been overly happy with mirror mounts.. |

I use half of the mirror mount brackets and drill 2 holes into the side of the stake pocket. Both my trucks are done this way with the Wilson 4' Silverloads. SWRs are 1.2:1. They are somewhat directional but the driver's side was also my choice to keep the antenna from "bush wacking" all the low branches on the passenger side. 73's |

All heed Tech 808's advice on grounding. My Mazda P/U is a perfect example of a really poorly grounded bed. I spent 3 hours one night with a friend trying to adjust the SWR on an antenna and finnaly tried a jumper hooked from the antenna mount to a good braided copper ground strap on the frame. SWR went from 5:1 to 1.1:1 immediatley. I felt dumb, but I learned my lesson. |
