Um Dude, if it had a positive and negative wire (red and black) and no plug for the wall, it's a 12 Volt system made for mobile operations (like a vehicle, DC power). DC equals Direct Current, and usually runs either 6 volt, 12 volt or 24 volt systems.

Household current is AC power, Alternating Current. It is about 115 volts.

Those two are not compatible, operate completely differently, and yes, you probably destroyed it. If you want to run items such as that in the house, you will need a large enough power supply for the amount of amps all the equipment will draw. These power supplies plug into the wall but convert AC power to DC power to run 12 Volt equipment.

The Techs here can tell you how fixable your equipment might be.

67Gto,

I hope you are kidding, ...a 667 is a 12 volt mobile amp. It could be used on a base with a suitable power supply, but it is definetly designed to run on 12 volts. If you truly connected it to a wall outlet, well, ... let's say you had better go shopping for a new amp.

Also check with one of the Copper techs. They could give you a better idea than I can as to whether or not it may be repairable.

For future reference, if a cb and/or accessory has a black and red power cord it is not to be plugged into the wall outlet. A 110 volt unit will have a cord with male spades like you see on your power cords for your computer, lamps, refridgerator etc.

Expensive mistake guy...

The 667v is a "MOBLE" amp.not a Base amp. Meaning it is made for a vehicle, not the house. I'm afraid a funeral is order.

My condolences.....

Hmmmm.

ALL TEXAS STAR AMPS are MOBILE. They run on DC Current, not AC.

I am afraid that the amp is wasted.

Kattracker and everybody else on the forum. This is the real 67GTO notice the CAPS. Somebody used my username and posted this crazy question. I think it was a local around my 20 just playing a joke. We were talking on the air about what would happen if the amp was hooked up to AC last night. It is a funny post and I not mad at the person that posted it. I just want yall to know I am not some idiot with a radio.
