I live in southwest Arkansas tornado alley none the less and on top of a mountain..The ring around the bottom of the astroplane has a tendency to move..Depending on which way the wind is blowing at the time.(Moderate to heavy)winds..I fixed mine from moving took monofiliment fishing line tied one end on the ring then wrapped one wrap around the mast pole made another wrap around the other side of the ring repeated this process North south east and west until the ring was secured to my sadisfaction, now no matter how much the wind blows the ring will not move Unless I'm hit by a tornado.......Then it wouldn't matter. But that's my tip....

Or you can do like i did and beef up the two radials by using heavier aluminum and doubleing it up. I did this and it made mine stong as heck and able to stand strong winds... I also made mine tuneable by adding the overlapped tubing and am able to adjust my SWRS down to a 1.1 match,,,,

Nice job Nitemare. I used a piece of fiberglass on my test antenna. I have seen it hit with 80 MPH winds. All it did is wiggle a little on top. I'm positive it will take 100 MPH winds. Tornadoes, I'm not so sure.
