hook up another rig to that antenna and see what you hear ... check to be sure the speaker is hooked up so you can HEAR the noise and static and other stations ... check your mike wiring ...

I had the same thing happen to mine once....I took the handle end of a screwdriver and lightly tapped the relay, the recieve came back. So I removed and cleaned it with some CRC contact cleaner.I also cleaned the contacts on all the boards with a clean pencil eraser for good measure. That would be one of the first things I would check. Hope this helps ya. 73s, Pluto

You dont have any recieve or is it very very faint, if very faint try the little transistor on the green plug in socket...

I dont have any recieve at all, I have another radio hooked up to the same antenna hub, and it recieves fine. I really prefer this radio for skip-talk, but it is old, as you know, and I am almost afraid to ship it to a tech, might get more damage shipping. I havent been able to find anyone local with the expertise. I live 25 miles south of Roswell, NM

Hello Pig040 Just a thought -UFO jamming I bet or test flights , kinda dose that in your neck of the woods. Just kidding . Had the same happen on my radio. Relay was stuck, I had mine replaced by a tech. But cleaning might do the trick. I use radioshack tv-tuner cleaner on switches and relays. Might be worth a try.Hope you get it going again. 73's

Try this....

BUT FIRST, remove the power cord form the radio and ground the radio while you are working on it.

Open up the top lid. Inside you will see a series of boards in slots. Carefully remove the retaining devices and pull out each board. Observe the slot/board contacts. Using a high quality contact cleaner purchased from an electronics supply house clean the contacts. Reinstall the board and lock it in place. Do this one board at a time.

You could have a bad contact on one of the module boards. My radio would make this frog croaking sound when the audio board contacts got dirty.

Put the top back on and lock it in place. Plug the thng up again and cross your fingers.

One other thing. It could be your speaker as well. Plug in an aux speaker to the back of he radio to see if your speaker is not the cause.

Hello.
I had a 101EE once and it had pretty weak receive. I could hear guys local but if they lived 20+ miles away i could not hear them on either AM or SSB at all..... I loved the 101s killer tube audio but like i say "if you cant hear them ya cant work them!!!!!!!"

check your lampfuse in the back of the rig, if this is blown your receive will be gone or very low, this fuse is a simpily a bulb and should be clearly marked.
