I remember back in the 70's they had a Horizontal luggage rack type CB antenna for vans. Is there anything like that or similar out there these days? Well I guess If I have to I can put a PDL II type antenna up there when it cools off! Thats the great thing about the Desert you can run around with big antennas! Seriously I would like to look into any there may be. If you have a link please post it.

This company manufactures a 10 meter horizontal omni antenna. I would think it could be easily tuned for CB band.

Only problem out here in the desert ,738, is you put those big antennas up, and mother nature keeps trying her best to take them down!!!

Thanks for the Par Electronics antenna idea! I forgot about them I use their 6M loop works great. I'm going to send off an e-mail to them. It does get windy here in Las Vegas but not like the the 3 Hurricanes my antennas survived when I was working/living in Coastal Connecticut! After that Hugo one, these dirt devils are nothing!

Reply from Par regarding tuning to 11M:

Sorry, it will not go that low.

Is it true or a CB hating Ham, that is thee question. Knowing how my 6M loop from them is made I can't think of why a little extra lenght would not do the trick? The tubing may have to be fabricated a little, but thats the fun of it! This has got me going, I may just order one and try it after I recover from purchasing the 142GTL I just ordered!

I e-mailed him back asking exactly what the tunning issue was and got this reply:

The matchbox will not allow a good match. Using a tuner with it is NOT a solution unless very low power is to be used.

So if you guys got any ideas let me know. Yes I did think of mounting the 102's off the sides, ha., ha.....Street Cleaners!

738,

Did you ask them if they would consider offering one for 11m?

I realize that it is pretty good size, but it is really not that bad, considering the frequency. There would probably be others who are interested for a number of reasons, for base or mobile use.

It would be nice, it's not that big for larger vehicals. Just think how well it would work on mobil SSB DXing! I was going to tell them about other people may be interested but I have a feeling it's almost a auto-reply: note the "for par electronics" had to really pry to get the slightly more detailed relpy and notice the reference to power like we use a lot or somethingJ Their site is not very good, I did not see any spec.s, but will look into it more after I rest. I'm sure it would be easy to do, I mean come on we are talking about a adjustment of less than 1MHz I bet it would work ok the way it is? I will try to find out more and post.
