Having been a Ham for the past 13 years, while certainly I cannot say I've seen it all, there is SO MUCH after all, I have had my different moods and tastes - ragchews, dx, simplex, repeaters, handhelds, mobile, bases, different rigs, antennas, QTHs etc. Lately, perhaps after taking a few road trips with only a 2 meter or dual band rig, or perhaps after QSOing with "the guys" on 2 meter simplex lately, my mood is now to go to where it all started for me - to where there is some of the BEST DARN AUDIO, PERIOD is, where people strive for that GREAT sounding AM station is, C.B. Perhaps if my old TRC-474 didn't howl like a dog at the moon and have that distinct burning componant smell after trying to turn it on for the first time after sitting in the closet for 10 years, I would have been happy and left it alone at that. But Noooooooo. The unidentified burning componant, being difficult to reach behind the almost impossable to remove face plate, it was time for (yet another) new rig. In searching the web for info on CB and rigs, I came across this GREAT group. I've been lost here for days. Great comments and opinions on rigs from the lowly Pro 510XL to the mighty Lincoln, peaks, power, limiters (or not), and what seems like everything else in between and beyond that pertains to CB. It's all a great, informative and FUN read. Its to the point though that I do have some questions. So I thought that I'd join the group and wave a hand. My questions will come in subsequent posts. 73 Skip Skip, WELCOME ABOARD! Lon Tech808

Welcome, my case is similar. 11 meters since 1973, got licensed in 91. Coming back to 11 meters after being off for 12+ years because of the bad location I was in back then! Starting all over again buying new radios, antennas, etc. Found this great forum now too. I strongly belive 11 meters is more fun than Ham in general and more tech talk and people working on and understanding and learning how their radios work! Hope you post soon, seems like a lot of good people here. Enjoy 73J |

welcome aboard. im not a hammie, but i got myself one heck of a freebie from a dead ham. its a drake T-4x transmitters, R-4 reciever, and the big powersupply/speaker deal. i got a modification from a friend off the www.frn.net board (excellent forum) which will make it transmit a nice hi-fi AM signal. once i find all the right x-tals for this old tank, you'll be hearing me on 11 meters with BROADCAST QUALITY audio
