recently I had said I was going to coordinate another DX-A-Thon. I'm going to stand down from that for now because of the new CEF NET.
Tech808 has taken Copper Forum Members request and set up a channel, set up a net, and has put in a tremendous amount of time trying to get this going with approval from Copper Electronics.
For those that don't know, Tech808 runs his own business and is a Tech advisor here on his own time without pay (like all the Techs here). He has done the ultimate by doing what all of you have been asking for months, and set it up. Our first day will be August 10th.
My personal opinion is he has taken the DX-A-Thon and and strengthened it to be a much more formal and professional way of radio contact with our members. With over 2,000 members covering the country nationwide, this can be impressive if the conditions are nice to us. With so many working together, it's impossible to lose. Now with a weekly NET, we can always work the conditions, and always have a Copper channel to try and communicate.
I see this as a good thing, even better than a DX-A-Thon, and feel we can always benefit from improvement. For that reason, I am standing down on plans for a DX-A-Thon and am happy to say that I will be part of this new CEF NET.
I am humbled and excited to be testing the waters of what I feel will be an incredible chance to show the nation that their are still professional CB operators out there that can use our radios as what they were desinged for: To communicate with each other.
In all the previous DX-A-Thons I've coordinated, that's all I ask was to respect each other on the airwaves. Man, these guys/gals made me proud! Now we are taking it one step further, and I am honored to be a part of this event.
I hope you can understand where I am coming from, but I think we are taking a step in the right direction. With that, I will cease plans for a August DX-A-Thon and press forth with the CEF NET. A Weekly thing? Heck Yeah!!!

CANCEL Did you say cancel. Well maybe the DX-A-THON will be cancelled but I think we may be on to something better here.This is gonna be a weekly carrying on and not a "When we can" type of thing.I agree wholeheartedly with you Alsworld that this will probably be better as conditions change so much for DX-A-THONS that they can be kinda spotty at times. Also I would like to thank you and Ironmask both for taking this on and helping Lon get this underway. Will be on the air August 10th. CEF-110 READY TO ROCK! |
