Can anybdy tell anything good or bad about the CB's that have everything in the hand microphome and just a small connection box that goes under the dash. I see that Copper carries the Cobra model, (which by the way is about $30 cheaper than I found it elsewhere online), and it looks pretty neat and all, but I seem to remember everyone slamming them as if they were ••••. One of my coworkers really wants one for his jeep so he can communicate with his 4x4 buddies on the trail. He isn't really looking for DX, or super loud audio, just enough to get a message a few miles. Anybody with any info on this type of radio, no matter what brand, would you please post it for me, so as I can make an educated recommendation to my coworker.
Thanx,
DAN

Good....
Everything at your fingertips

Bad....
Fat puggy Fingers always press more than one button.

Good...
May allow you to mount the radio under the seat/out of sight.

Bad...
What do you do with that big box if the mike breaks.

Good...
Over Modulation impossible with stock mic

Bad...
And good, you probably cannot put a preamp mic on it.

Lastly Perhaps bad, Perhaps not...

Depending on the size of of your hand, the mic may be uncomfortable to hold.

radio shack used to make a model or two...possibly as late as the mid 1990 s...cobra has made 3- 4 different models through the years... guess Midland has an old model or two ... dont know about Uniden or any other company... points at top of the page are worth remembering, I would just buy a uniden 510 or something small and cheap and easy to stash in the glove box with a cigarette lighter plug and a magnet mount antenna when it is not needed...but do what you wanna

De is right if you have small hands like some people do the mike/radio is freaking HUUUGE to them to hold!! Id tell him to get a little Uniden 510 XL small enough to hide but overall a good little radio plus the mike is small enough not to be annoying. Plus the radio can scream if the right guy tunes it up..
