What is RF grounding all about? What is the purpose and advantage? How does a person do it and what is needed? |

RF grounding is just that. The purpose is twofold. First, on low frequencies (like CB) it can reduce the stray capacitance between your antenna's current node and the earth, which will lower your takeoff angle (better coverage). Second, it will lower your noise level. A person does it by adding as much bonding to the earth as possible. The easiest and most effective way for the money is to bury copper wires in a spider web pattern around the base of your antenna and bond the system to your RF ground. This has been discussed many times before ad-nauseum. Check the archives for the entire thread on grounding for more great tips. |
