I am sure you all have heard about the W32.Sobig, virus.

W32.Sobig is a mass-mailing, network-aware worm that sends itself to all the email addresses it finds in certain files on your PC."

I have been getting this virus daily now. I do have an anti virus program and my isp has a mailing filter with a virus program which filters out the junk and any potential viruses before it reaches my in box.
I have neen getting 30-40 of these a day. It's really a nuasance.
If you haven't already, you should update your antivurus definitions and apply any and all patches available.
You can get more information on this virus and and many others at:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html?prodid=nav2003

Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.

431

jeeze everything i know about computers wouldn't fill a matchbook. when i got the worm i put up a firewall and went to the website for the tool to whatever and followed all the directions for the patch but was never able to download it for some reason. so i gave up. i was online with it last weekend for about 3 hrs and it only shut off once. as far as the email thing i haven't used the computer since last weekend so i dont know. thats what i like about webtv. its immune to those problems.

Applejack. You obviously use XP.

XP has a built in firewall for blocking ports used by netbios, 135-139.

I never have these problems with my computer. You should have read microsofts release notes with it.

Besides 431, your firewall should be blocking those ports, and so should your isp.

Your ISP is in violation of homeland security's new security act.

Yes sir applejack,

As a matter of fact, ALL ISP MUST BLOCK those ports as the Homeland Security said so about a month ago.

If you want, try zonealarms free firewall. Its excellent.
