LittleFellow,

I modified mine for variable power by mounting a 10k pot on the back of the radio and pulling the am power pot from the board and running 3 wires from the board to the pot I mounted. This is nice when conditions are real quiet or when driving an amp. The radio swings nice with a 1 or 2 watt dead key and will drive a 2 pill amp just right!

Also it is set up to recover the novice portion of 10 meters by pushing the SWR cal knob in. Nice, but I have been embarassed once to find myself signing on channel 17AM saying an "ooga-booga" sound with the cal knob inadvertantly pushed in. I was on 28.4something. Thankfully I was in the mobile and was running low power.
