Hello
They have a crazy person in New Orleans that says the K-40 can handle winds of 160 MPH. I have no idea where and what he will drive to get to that speed. I looked at the k-40 website and could not find and info on the magnet mount. Does anyone know how fast you can go with this antenna?
THANKS
G T O

They will stay on to 200 plus mph but you have to put alittle swr grease on the tip, to keep the swr's low due to it going horizontal. LOL.

The other obvious point is that mag-mounts do not stick to aluminum aircraft surfaces...

Yes, a K40 is stronger than a 102 when flying down the road at 150Mph. There is far less whip to catch the wind with a K40 than there is with a 102.

As far as the K40 magnet goes, you can't go fast enough to blow one off a car. The main reason is the fact that if it's on the roof, the faster you go, the wind hitting the windshield will reflect higher over the roofline resulting in less resistance against the whip. The whip actually sees MORE resistance at lower speeds.

I'm thinking the only person on the forum that may be able to force a K40 off the roof would probably be Tech671. I kind of doubt he could get a K40 off with wind resistance. He'd probably just rip it off with torque within the first 5 feet starting from a standstill.

Your thoughts please Tech671 on this matter.

Hey Bob.

Just how much do you have tied up in that k40 magnet mover?

And don't you think it would be easier to move it by hand or are you just to lazy to get out of your car while doing a wheel stand?

I will admit though, you HAVE come up with a innovative way to relocate your antenna. But I'm curious to know if releasing the parachute and slamming on the brakes will return it to its original place on the roof.

Later Bob.

Jeff.
