Is there anywhere I can get information on a Ray Jefferson Model 5000M VHF Marine radio????? Thank you for any help, Tom Shaw

Tom,

I went to my Search area on AOL and typed in:

"Ray Jefferson 5000M" and it came up with a lot of information and different sites.

You might try this with your yahoo.

Galileo,

as a boater who often strays into the "stupid" range of extreme fishing (I love rough water fishing, and I pilot small boats into the stuff as a challenge), I ask that you please not use that radio as a general purpose radio. It serves a no-BS real time lifesaver for those of us that have had to either rely, or rescue those that needed help.

I have rescued Maydays myself, most not serious fortunately, but have had to listen to some horrors out on the open sea. Their only hope was the VHF. It is not made for any purpose near a CB or even ham, but the only means of reliable communication to the US Coast Guard when everything goes wrong. VHF they can at least triangulate, Cell phones are much harder, and usually useless untill it's too late.

If you are asking as a boater, my apologies. But if you are asking as another way to just ragchew, PLEASE reconsider.
