Well the 4900 gave up the ghost last night. I am not to happy about it, but not to surprised. It is a great looking radio. And I have talk across the pond twice on it. But it just isn't a well built radio I think. As it turns out, my friend is selling his Galaxy Saturn. This is the radio I bought new a few years ago, and sold it to him 2 years ago. He is in need of some cash, so I think I will grap it. Trouble is, I am buying a home, and cash is VERY tight. So we'll have to see if I can make a deal with him or not. But I hope to have it by Sunday, or once again I will miss yet another Net check in. Which would be none to cool. So I am now packing up my 4900 for now, and maybe down the road I will try to have it fixed. But I have the feeling, and I have been told, it's going to be pricey to fix it. Anyway, I hope your day is going better then mine! |

Sorry about the radio Sodapop, but I sure hope your friend can work you a deal on that Saturn. Would really enjoy talking to you again. Last Sunday was rough, but there is another coming up in a few days! I have faith even with the solar cycle diminishing, that Fall and Winter will bring us better successful days. One way or another, I'm sure you will be up and running. Work the priorities first (such as your home). We will understand, but still keep an ear out for you . Alsworld |

Sodapop, I am sorry to hear about your 4900. You are one of the first people that I QSO'd with from this forum. I believe that it was during last November's C.E. DX-A-THON. I was mobile with my Superstar 3900 and you returned my call. I owe you for "re-sparking" my interest in the hobby. I'll wish you luck with the Saturn & will be listening for you on the CEF net. (Maybe you won't find me too far off freq. this time!) 73's - 340/CEF134 |

Well, the Galaxy deal didn't happen. I stopped by, had cash in hand. But he decided he could raise some money other ways. So sad, and now I am on the hunt for a good SSB radio. It's going to be a long day of looking all over then Internet I think. *sigh* |

WHOOHOO!!! I found a radio. Man it took forever. But the wait was worth it I think. I have found me a 2950DX. Should be here by next weekend. Which means I can finally get on the Sunday Net! I have owned a few 2950s, but this will be my first DX version. Anyone out there have one? I would love to hear what you think of it. |

Well I never thought it would be hard to find a radio. Though this time it took longer then before. But the good Lord did provide, and that's the bottom line! *G* |

Hey Sodapop, you don't have to depend on luck or the lord for a radio, next time just click on "Copper's Main Page" over on the left of this page. They can have you a truck load of radios there in about 3 days, all new and shinny and not butchered up by previous owners. scrapiron |

Well I hope I do, looks like it didn't make it to me for this weekend's radio Net. So once again, I am without a SSB for Sunday. But the 2950DX is coming, so I can't complain!

Hi Sodapop, Sorry about your SS-4900-B. I really like the display and controls on those radio's. But all I've ever heard or read about them is that they break often and dont hold up. Wouldnt it be nice if RCI were to make a 29xx-DX Series radio with that type of display, or even the great Linclon radio with that display in blue. Now that would be too cool and I would scraping up the money to get one in a hurry. Just dreaming I guess. |

Topten - yes, the 4900 is a sweet looking radio. If it had the guts of the DX radios, it would be the best radio going. But I am looking for to the 2950. I like them, and I am sure I will lke this one as well. |

Sodapop, your going to love that new rci-2950dx it's a great radio with a noise blanker that IMHO works just as well as a Linclon radio. That display on the 4900 would be so cool on a 2950DX. Radio manufacturer's should let end user's influence radio design, not corporate bean counters that only care about how much profit they can make. Ever see a Kenwood 2000? What a sweet looking radio that is! Ok i will get off my soap box now. Good Dx'ing to you and 73's!! |
