Where could I find the 10 codes?

Do people still use them?

Are they ever updated?

How do people feel about it?

What is the history of it?

Sam, here is a link to The COPPER WEB SITE from Jan 18, 1998.

Scroll to bottom of the page and click on Codes & Charts.

...years ago ( back in the twentieth century )...when you would buy a new cb radio, there would be various paperwork ( most of which got thrown away ) including an OWNERS MANUAL, application for fcc licence... copy of 10 - codes ( if not in the manual )..info on REACT, the channel 9 emergency stuff, and a warranty card to be filled out and miled back, and some other miscallaneous items of paperwork...nowadays I dont know, I aint bought a new cb in soooo long, recently sold ALL of my 11 - meter rigs for some one else to use, just grew tired of the racket and the hate & discontent ( I know, I can turn the radio off and return later, or some one can say " it aint no better on 75 meters ",) but I needed some cash and all I got left is an antron 99 that is sooo OLD it is flaking the fibreglass off the sides,i know i have had it since BEFORE 1989, and that was 14 - 15 years ago and the tuning rings dont change the swr at 28 - 29 Mhz for 10 meters, so I guess I will have to buy another antron 99 or read these post about other 10 meter antennas...got one of those realistic htx - 10 ..10 meter all modes and hooked it up in the house to listen to 10 meters while also listening on my yeasu 840 hf rig to 75 meters at night, but the OLD antron wont let the swr at 28.600 mhz go down below a 2.1, but it will allow the cb channels to stay at 1.2, I just think the antenna has been tuned at this one area since it was brand new and it wont change...good antenna, but I figger I will get a new one of one type or another for 10 meter operations...back to the 10 codes, they very from area to area in POLICE usage, but generally stay the same nationwide for CB use...good luck in finding you a copy....perhaps COPPER should offer them in an area on their web site....any one like that idea ? (lol)

Kd4amg, Rfman100 & Other's,

Go to the: ~ MAIN COPPER PAGE

Then Click on: ~ SUPPORT

Then Click on: ~ 10 Codes and Frequency Chart's

It will give you a VERY NICE page for Printing it has:

Q ~ CODES
10 ~ CODES
UNION PHONETICS
FREQUENCY CHART

Thank's to a tip from the Forummaster.

Even being a Copper Tech I never thought of looking there.

Guess I need to follow my own advice and READ EVERYTHING that Copper has to offer on the Copper Web Site.

I guess, I get overwelmed by looking at all of the great products, Copper offer's and forget to look elsewhere.

The more time I spend on the "www.copperelectronics.com" website, the more I have come to appreciate the stability and completeness of a good website like this. I can't count the number of times I went "surfing" and ended up on a page that was out of date, and went nowhere else!

Products, and technical information, AND a "CATALOG" :) Any true radio equipment addicted guy/gal loves the catalogs.

So, do I get a discount or something?? :):)

Thanks Lon & Thanks Forum Master & Kd4amg

When I bought my Cobra GTL, yes it do come with all of those papers. All of these papers are in my storage somewhere.

After getting my mobile Cobra (using it as a base at home.) I was very excited. However, I notice many people were not using most of the 10 codes.

Sometimes you hear 10-4 & 10-20. In adittion, new words came into the CB vocabulary at lease here in NYC.

Such as: Copying the mail, spashing, home channel, rag chew, mic bum & a few other that I can not think of right now.

I think it would of been a lot more interesting if people used the 10 codes.

But with only 23 channels, what could you expect!

I wonder in which state CBers use them most.
