I used my texas star 400 on my base station and i think I put too much swing in it in blew those protecton resistors or something. Can you please tell me where do i look on the board to find them and tell me what i need to put back in there so i can get it to start working again. The unit just does not key up anymore so i think it is diffently that problem.

Thanks,
Mr. Jones

Replace the "small" black transistors (2N4401 or eq.) on the main board. NOT the big transistors.

Mr.Jones

This just may be a simple fix.

There is a small transistor back by the relay that will sometimes burn out. Try replacing it and see if your amp will then key.

If you don't use the pre-amp, the transistor that is used there can be put in place of the burned out one. The pre-amp transistor will be foung near the front of the PC board.

Those two small transistors are identical. The transistor by the relay is nothing more than a switching transistor. I have replaced many of them.

Another possibility could be the big RF transistors but I doubt that is your problem unless you are running way too much power into the amp making it get too hot. Heat is the number one enemy of RF devices.

73s and good luck.
