Can someone tell me how the ppl that make radios get all the smoke inside those little componets?? I have seen large amounts of smoke come out of even the smallest parts. GEE I thought those parts were solid...but they must be hollow to hold all that "smoke" |

beaconman Im with you its AMAZING how much smoke gets squezed into a 1/4 watt resistor and how HARD it is to put the smoke BACK if it escapes! |

I know it Bruce!! I have seen "large" amounts of "smoke" come out of those componets!! I have old tube radios that "smell" bad when they go "pop" but they dont "smoke" So I guess we will never know! Do smt radios have the "smoke" componets?? I dont have one of those radio yet and thus have not had the chance to see if they have the "smoke"? |

Bruce Lol. Good answer Bruce. But I have some questions. 1- Where did you get the equipment that injects the smoke back into the devices? 2- Is this equipment difficult to use? 3- Is it costly. 4- Is the smoke capture/return-to-componet ratio worth the investment? I think I could possibly use one of these items. PS: If you can't return all of the smoke to a device, does that mean that its value has changed? Jeff.

Jeff 1) I cant devulge my sorce for the equipment because someone would question was it was of lab quilty. 2) The cost ratio would be in question unless i had a standard to compair it too .... does it its calabration compair it a grid leak pan. 3 Smoke/capture return how would we measure it in cubic micones .... S/S ( signal to smoke ) and if so someone would question why i used that method over Cubic centermeters vers S/S. 4 ) calabration of original part would be in question how did i arive at a 1/4 watt carbon did i use the proper measurement to determin where it realy was a 1/4 watt or did i eyeball it and use my judgement as to its value and size so with these varibals not have a solid base line to make a statment as to where or not i had returner the part to its orignal value. 5) Is there a standard like the phosian theroum which is the baseline for the above measurements. EXCELENT QUESTION JEFF! |

Bruce, once you get all the particulars hammered out on "re-capturing" the smoke, could you work on differnt colors of smoke? And then take it a step further and have small backlit switchies that correspond to the color of smoke so we could amaze our friends when they drop by the shack? If you could do that, I'd buy the smoke kit! |

Kirk Thats AUSUM! cool we could sell smoke colored to the radio heck copper might even carry it for us ! I like your idea swiches for diffrent color smokes. Do you think we could color smoke for times like chrismas .... nice green smoke comming out of a radio .... |

HEY besides the colors could we add say flavored smoke. Like pizza, Steak, BBQ, ect? Now with colors and the smell I would buy that! |

I see so much potential in all of this! Somebody better file the patent and trademarks! |

Af do you think wendys might sell it ???? Gags are so much fun ..... One old gag was to send a freshman electronics student out looking for a grid leak pan ( with stopper )This was part of a grid leak detection system . Now in 1963 when i was a freshman in electronics school I went out and BROUGHT one it even came with instructions...... A friend of a older friend on mine ran a surplus store in what was called " Radio row " which is where the world trade center was built and as a gag he carried them in his store $1. Gosh i wish i still had that but 30+ years ago when i came to florida ... well you cant take all your junk. Note they say you cant take it with you well i dont go unless i get to take at least a 2 meter HT! |
