392, Well, I can give you the information that I have on the Magnum S-3200B Base Radio. Copper sent me one about 3 weeks ago for testing and evaluation. The radio does offer you the choice of using AC-110 or 12V for power. You have Control / Knobs for: Tone RF Gain Mic Gain Mode Band's (8) Volume Squelch Clarifier (Both Fine & Coarse) Standard 1/4 Phone Jack The Main Board is a: #9821R7 The PLL is a: KS8805BD (Note, I was unable to find who makes the Board or PLL used in it.) It uses a single 1969 Final. It uses both Standard and SMT parts. After conversion the coverage is: 25.165 thru 28.755 To take full advantage of all the Bands (8) you will need to use an External Frequency Counter. Lon Tech808 |

Is the freq counter jack the FC-390 type? Also, did you inform the manufacturer of your issues with the radio? I would think to compete with rigs like the Meleka they would try to make it at least as good!?!? |

thanks Lon. I'll pass on this one for now. Looked like kind of a neat, low cost unit but it still has to perform well. 392 |

Znut, Yes, the Freq Counter jack is the same as the FC-390 type. As for the manufacturer, I was unable to find out who made the Board and the PLL Chip let alone who made / assembled the radio. No names on anything. Lon Tech808 |

The freq counter Jack is not a FC-390 connector type. The jack on the back of the radio is an RCA type. |

Hawk447, You are correct, my mistake, it is a RCA Type female plug. Lon Tech808 |

Oh, well Magnum didn't think that one out either. It's starting to sound a little crappy. I wonder why they didn't come up with a decent entry level base rig. Maybe they will work out some of the quality issues. |

Thats a sad darn shame too because anymore if a company makes a base radio it turns out to be a big ol' yeller' lemon... Remember the Super Star 4900?? that was a cool looking radio but OMG it was lousy as heck! And a complete failure.......................... :-( |

Just Curious what were the Quality and Performance issues on the S3200B? |

Hawk447, Answer to your question is Very simple. It did not meet the requirements / standard's that Copper has set forth for Quality or Performance of the product's it carries. The main problems were with design work & frequencies. Lon Tech808 |
