Since getting back into radio after about a 10 year period without any interest in radio I have seen so much on the web about competition amps and competition meets. What exactly, or I should say, how exactly are they competing? Longest keydowns before blowing an amp? Longest Dx? Most watts? What is the deal? More often then not, Dave-Made amps are connected to it. What exactly are these amps all about? What do they do that others don't? Thanks, Kattracker |

It's all about the keydown and who can be heard over who at a distance. Davemade amps are high power, custom made(by a guy named Dave, supposedly), so to speak, for 11m and use much beefier components than your average CB amp. They are made for folks who like to run LOTS of power and impress each other with it. Hey, everybody has their thing... (RF burns aside) Ever been to a drag race? Same thing but with radios. |

I also forgot to add X Force to my last post. I hear these are also class C. So if you reply please consider my two post as one when making a reply. Thanks, Kattracker |

X Force is made by a guy that used to work for Dave, and the amp is basically identical. The thing about these is they use all their power, nothing like filters getting in the way. |

Pig040, Unfortunately your info is wrong they are not made by a guy that used to work for dave they were a few years ago but not now. Xforce has a very good support and warranty program.

Thanks for the update Northstar, when I bought my X-Force I talked to the guy, dont remember his name, and he said he used to work with D***. I had the X-Force for about 2 years, and Loved it, used it a lot, and never had to use the support system, other than order a remote later. It was a great bulletproof box.

Pig040, What model did or do you have? If it was a mobile did you have to do any mods to the vehicle charging system? Thanks, Kattracker |

Kattracker, I had a 2 driving 6, on 12 volts I was getting 1100 watts, did nothing to the alternator, but I had a deep cycle marine battery in line. 2990, The are LOUD, but not the cleanest, they are designed that way for competition, I looked inside, and talk about no filters, nothing extra in there at all, besides what was necessary to make power, lol. Bullet, that is what you get when you get class C amp, not gonna be clean, you know that before you buy it. But as far as sound, as long as your radio is clean, the X Force sounds good to me. |
