From some of the post's that are coming in I would like to explain the Misconception on Moderators that some of you may have.

The Copper Forum Moderator's have to Read and Approve, Edit or Refuse every single post that appears on the Forum.

There is not just "1" Moderator for the Copper Forum.

The Forummaster, Tech307, Tech181, Tech671, Tech808, Tech833, and Moderator558, all can Read, Approve, Edit or Refuse Submitted Post's.

A lot of times the only way the Moderators will see a Post is when it appears on the Forum.

As we are all located in different states, & time zones, and all have different Internet Servers, we have no idea when another Moderator is in the Forum working.

It has happened quite frequently that a Moderator might be reading a post that has been submitted and then all of a sudden it is GONE, So we refresh our screen and it is still GONE, and then we go to the Forum and see that another Moderator had already approved it and posted it.

And Rest assured the Forummaster does read about 99.9% of the post's.

When entering a post always use your username and password. Post that are submitted with a registered users name but not entered with a password raise our concern that someone might be forging that users name.

When this occurs we will try to email the owner of the username. This can be difficult because the only way we have access to the posters email address is through their profile. But we can't access their profile because the post wasn't entered using a password.

If the post had been entered using a password we would be able to look up the users email address by clicking on the username that is included with the post. Since none of the moderators except the Forum Master has access to the username database we can't look up the email address. Hence the poster doesn't receive an email with an explanation as to why the post was edited or refused.

This same problem occurs with a post that we think needs editing or refusal. We can't email the poster with our comments as to why we are making changes without being able to enter the posters profile.

Also a hidden email address in a users profile will not allow any of the moderators except the Forum Master to be able to email a poster about edits or refusals.

I Hope this clears up a few misconception's about the Moderator's.

It is You the Forum Members that make this the Great Forum that it is.

Thank You!

there may be some professional techs here that have run into problems in the past where they felt that techs/moderators on the forum thought that they were here to drum up business when they were actually here to help. so now, even though they are registered members, they only post under this section. that is because there is no email needed. this way no one here can say that they are here to steal repairs/sales. you can't be if you aren't leaving a calling card. and yes these techs may say, i work on this or that, but some say this because they want the person that they are explaining something to, to understand that what they are passing on is what they have experienced as a 'professional' tech and not something 'hear say'. and i know that you then have some who do want business and that is why they make sure an email is with every post.

anyway, this is just one reason i can come up with why some forum users may not want to leave an email.

i haven't looked into this but is there a way to be a registered member and your email not show up with every post(besides for the moderators to see)??

anonymous,

We are working on re-vamping the Copper Forum and hope to have a lot of new things tested and working by the first of the year.

Some minor changes will be made, but it should help enhance the Forum and use of the Forum by the Members.

When it was started, It was hard to imagine that over 100 post's a day would be coming in, and we continue to grow, 44,149 post's so far not counting this one.

On your last question we are also working on that also.

We will keep the Forum Members Updated.

You must not be watching. How many times have you seen Forum Master Note on a post?

I must approve 50 messages per day.

lets see, i have had conversations in one way or another with both 558(yes i knew 558=happy hamer, that is why i made a smirk toward the maha 2meter amp in another post) and 307, so i know that the 2 of you are real. the other moderator/tech is 671. after that no contact with any others besides the forum master. but i must say that 558, 671, and myself go back before copper started their forum. we had met on another forum, and it was after i came here later that i met them once again.

btw, for the anonymous guy who asked about keeping emails from showing, i just saw this weekend while i was in my 'profile' section that you can keep your email from being displayed. don't know if the moderators will be able to see it, but it will keep everyone else from seeing it. i thought that this may help him and some others.

and while i am at it, is there anyway to change the email that you registered with??? when i was looking through my 'profile' i couldn't find a way to do this.

Well, I guess I am Real.

Member VFW Post 454 Bloomington, IL, 33 years
CEF Net Mid - West Net Control.
Had calls from over 1/3 of the CEF Members to my Home Phone Number.
Started Action City Breakers CB Club back in 1972 in Bloomington, IL.

Drove down with 1st Sargant to visit the Forummaster and Copper group and posted pictures to Forum.

So yep, guess I am Real also.

ss8541, rest assured the only one that can see your e-mail address is the Forummaster, as none of the Moderators have access to anyone's information unless a person gives it to us, or lists it in their Profile.

Actually the "Birth" of this Forum was discussed here in Florida when Chet was on vacation and we met at a Disney Resort. We talked about it until about 2A.M. in the morning and all the things we could do with it...It has come a long way!

Tech307,

And THANK YOU, and the FORUMMASTER for that LONG talk till 2AM.

In the Year since you and the forummaster invited me to sign on as a Tech, it has grown from about 20 to 30 post's a day to generally over a 100 post's a day now.

You both came up with a Winning Forum

And now we have added the Chat Room, The CEF CB Net, and the CEF 10 Meter Net.

And, Forum Members & CEF Members from Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and Mexico.

And from you and the Forummaster, starting it, we now have, the Forummaster, yourself Tech307, Tech181, Tech671, myself Tech808, Tech833 and Moderator558, on board

Did you ever think when you and the Forummaster started it that you would see over 2200 Forum Members and still Growing?

Things are only getting better.

My Thanks go out to both of you for a job WELL DONE!
