That Cobra 148 is NOT TESTED!!!!!!!!! Brand new(7+ years old) and unopened. I would never buy a radio unless the seller checks it and stands by it. $251????? Something fishy going on in my opinion. |

Look at the Linear Amps if you think those prices are crazy. Some of these people still think that they sell for a dollar a watt!! Some are in line with normal prices, but many are not. |

And when you get an amp from E-bay, it has probably been overdriven, and is on its last legs. A lot of used amps on E-bay go for 3/4 of their normal price, and you dont know what you get!! |

I bought 1 of those 148's brand new back then. It was poorly made at best. I am using kind words now, but back when i first fired the thing up, I was not very happy. It was almost 3 kc off requency right out of the box. What a piece of junk. I should have bought a new Grant instead. I would have saved $20 and still had a GOOD radio! I had the 148 aligned and it worked so-so for a few months. One day i got in my vehicle and the radio didn't come on. It was blowing fuses on it's own. It was a mystery to me how it was working one day and the next, nothing. I held on to it for a few years, until someone offered me money for it "as is". The radio had less than 20 hours on it. Those Maylasian Cobra's where complete junk. I should have bought the Grant! 73's stickshift |

You can get some good buys, but before I buy something like an amp I e-mail the seller, and ask how he runs it, and if he sounds like he is kind of normal, and what he says is reasonable, I go ahead, if he says unrealistic things, I dont. Buyer beware is very true! |

I did get a very nice 148GTL on E-bay for about 50 dollars and some change. It was completely stock and in great condition. With a little tune -up it talks and receives great. You just have to watch what you buy and ask the seller for info. There is some JUNK for sale too !! |
