Has anyone performed this mod? If so,is it really worth the time and effort?

I had it down to one of mine and it didn't work good, not worth the effort.

Barefoote, was this the mod you had done?

HR2510 Modification for increased MicGain

This mod will increase the AM modulation.

The AM modulation adjustment is VR114, which is marked ‘AMC’ on the main circuit board.

To get more, Q114 is the Mic Attenuator, This limits the audio.

Q114 is located near the front of the circuit board in the center to the left of IC 104, above C153.

To modify this, remove Q114 and bend the Emmitter leg up from the circuit board and re install.

Put a 1000 ohm resistor in the vacant hole and solder to the board.

Solder the other end of the resistor to the Emitter leg of Q114.

Or did you have D129 clipped?

I have heard and read that a swing kit or any other modulation mod for the 2510\Lincolns dont work well. When someone asks me about a mod of this kind, I tell them to turn the mod up inside the radio, back it off a hair and put a good power mic on it.

I'm not sure what he did.
He used the SWR cal. knob, but put it back stock when we saw it did not work well.

I have this simple philosophy about modifications.

If all you have to do is snip this and connect that then it might be worth it.

But if you have to retweak the entire radio then it is probably not worth the effort.

The best modifications I have found are usually the simple ones rather than the complicated ones.

Well, de, this mods looks pretty simple. I don't plan on doing the mod, I was asking if anyone had performed the mod and how it worked for them.

I don't plan on clipping anything in my radio. If anything turn it down. This thing gets on my tv.

I had done the Q114 mod (adding the resistor) and get great reports. I had tried removing it also. That gave just too much modulation.

I did not clip anything but out of curiosity I did adjust on the V114 AMC and the locals say I sound a little off frequency and distorted. I might have opened up Pandora's box! This radio might have to go in the car.

I had the mod done to my old 2600
i had it worked awesome but the variable power mod didnt work well. the radio went into oscillation too much so i set it back with a fixed carrier and it worked fine after that....

IMHO the Lincoln, 2510, 2600 had/has the best receiver and NB ANL cirucit of any radio that i have had!!! Miss my 2510 i had a few years ago! :-(

Yeap, RCI 2990, the Lincoln has some fine ears on it and the SSB is second to none.

What is the best AM swing possibily for the Lincoln?
What have you guys achieved? Also, if the wattage on AM is say 25 and it swings 30 can this fuzz the audio? (Man, I didn't realize how much I'd forget being out of the hobby so long),

Thanks,

i have the audio and variable power mod done to my little 2510 and i think it was worth it.. got the biggest little radio in town cause of it.. on the average i key about 2-3 watts and swing to about 30. and the mod meter? not a chance.. buries it out every time.. i think the audio mod is worth your time... also the audio mod i did was clipping the diode and i run a silver k eagle and have never once had a problem with distortion.. only to much tv in the background.. glad to be back fella's hope to catch you on the frequency later today 123 up michigan
