cut the wire so if you ever decide to hook it back up you can just solder it back together.
when it is cut you will notice more swing out of your radio.
make sure you have a good meter when you go to tune it or you could mess it up.
when you adjust L-5 &L-6 you want to tune it for max swing...

I have the uniden pro 510 XL. i am trieng to get it to work better. what do you mean by cutting the d-14 wire. what color is it? im only 11 so i dont know. but if i cut the wrong on i have a soldering gun to fix it.

please help me im desperate

Justin,

Turn radio upside down and remove Bottom cover.

Look to the Left rear of radio and you will see two tuning coils(towers), Just to the right of L9 maybe 1/2 inch to the right you will see two small Black cans sticking up.

There you will find a little glass diode Marked D-14.

You can clip one leg and lift it up.

Other Adjustment's points are:

VR1 = Squelch
VR2 = Transmit Meter
VR3 = Receive Meter
VR4 = Receive IF Gain
