Went to worthless shack today and i was gonna get a 36' adjustable mast they only carry the 19' mast... ARRGH! Anyone know of anyone that carries a bigger mast then 19' or can i use the 19' and somehow install another section of pipe on it to get it over 25'? Im posible going to install a antenna (astroplane) on the side of my apartment and need to at least be able to get over the roof line....
And for those doughters yes, i can install an antenna because another guy put a tv antenna up on a mast mounted to the outside wall.. |

You must have been dealing with the 16 year old Assistant manager?
Radio Shack carries two masts that are reasonable. I bought the 36 ft, four section mast. Not bad for $70. RS # 15-5067 Tell the guy in the store to order you one....
Used it for 5 years with no trouble. But it's sitting on the ground alongside the garage now that I have a tower. Come to think of it, my neighbor has a tower he'll sell. Live in California? |

I checked Radio Shack on-line and only found the 19 footer. I also need the 36 footer! What to do?? |

Yup they have them at Lowes!! I work there and they are 30 foot telesoping, about 40$ |

Looks like Lowes is the place to go! Apparently, Radio Shack is not carrying the 36 ft mast anymore?
One caution: Check out the weight and wind factor of the antenna you are putting onto it. Even tho the old RS mast was pretty strong, it was guyed at 30ft and bolted to the garage at the peak (18ft). Also, try not to use wire for the guy wires, unless you use insulators every 7ft or so. They can resonate at the CB frequencies... |

Just thought of something I read on the COPPER forum. I think it was in the products section. One of the Tech's did a thorough analysis (whatever that is) on the different CB antennas.
If I remember right, 30ft is the magic number. Makes a difference if you are above or below 30ft. Check it out. |

Hey RCI 2990. Go to RSS Electronic Supply as they have the mast that you are looking for. I know because I bought two from them. I checked for someone the other day, and they only have the forty foot one. But it is heavier gauge than rad shack was, used them too. Anyway, ask for Cheryl. Tell her Keith in Atlanta sent you. And if she wants to send me a commission check to help pay for this last one in college, to send it on! She is real nice lady. And she is the owner!

The Astroplane would be the last item standing in a tornado. This has to be the best antenna design ever for windload purposes. BTW, mine seemed to work best 9 or 10ft off the ground. Weird, huh?

I just purchased a Channel Master 50' mast for $80 and it is built solid. Highly recommended.

Lowe's mast is very good. I added a 10 foot section to the top of it for 40 feet total length. Antron 99 at the top, added a pulley right below the A-99(opposite side) G5RV,Jr. and I have everything 80-10 meters. Guy wires are a must. I have two sets, since it is side of the house mounted, at about 20 feet and slightly below the G5RV. It held through Gulf Coast Hurricane season this time.(Although I am 75 miles from Galveston,Tx.) This set up really does a nice job for me.

Triplecguy can you tell me where you got the 50 foot mast at. Lowes wanted to charge me a arm and leg to order one. And it was the Channel Master. |

Hey guys, sorry it took so long. I got the Channel Master 50 foot mast from a place called Pueblo Wintronix, here in Pueblo CO. They had special ordered it for someone who changed their mind. That's why I got it for 80 bucks. The normal price is about 120 I believe. But it is worth it. The thing is very solid. I know a guy who has had the same one up for about 3 years and it is only guyed at the top three sections and it has never moved. I know that it was ordered from somewhere in North Carolina. If you guys want, I could see about getting the info on having some sent your way via the place I got mine, or I could look on the internet to find a dealer closer to y'all. Let me know guys.

Well, I tried to e-mail you but you don't have any e-mail or profile listed so I hope they will let me post this link here. (Sorry Forum Master). Go to www.channelmaster.com and click on distributors and it will let you pick your state and then tell you whom handles them in your area. then go into the TV section and click on antennas/mounts and scroll down to the telescoping section and there will be 2 choices of 50 foot mast, the 1650, and the 1850 with the 1650 being built with 16 gauge pipe and the 1850 with 18 gauge. I wish you luck, mine is getting ready to be put up here real soon. It is probably going on top of a hose tower at a fire station to be used for my club's repeater. I got a tower and they got the mast in a swap. Good Luck

No im sorry i dont. I havent had time to get my profile setup.. I have it setup on my folkses computer but not here (and how do i do that on a diff computer? HELP here!) Well anyways went to Lowes yesterday and found the 30' push up pole. Its made by Channel master and looks like its pretty sturdy however im gonna look around some more and see what else is out there. I found a 40' pole ($51.95 for a few dollars more than the Lowes pole ($44.99) on R&L and im going to see how much it will be to ship it.. I wonder if the mast will be high enough to get my Astroplane up in the air enouhg to make it effective? Im also thinking if the astroplane wont work then i might get the I Maxx 2000! |

The Astroplane will work great. Be sure your coax is good and the antenna is truly in the clear. I can say this much, if Copper carries it-it will work. My Astroplane worked fine but I never could get it to broadband as much as I would like. Coax and antenna placement had a lot to do with my problems. This antenna usually covers a broad array of frequencies. If you're not pleased the Imax 2000 would be the way to go.
