hey...how can I get rid of the annoying pop I get on my speaker when I key and unkey the mic? drives me crazy! I use a 2510 and a D104 SE--Danny |

Does this happen with other mics used on this same radio?
It sounds to me that the relay-timing in your 104 may not be correct.

Jeff the only other mic I have is the stock mike and it does not pop. Any suggestions? |

Yep, definately audio relay contact.
If you care to take the amplifier board out of your 104, there is a fix for this if it really bugs you. It certainly would bug me.
Follow the white audio wire from the mic cord to the relays. Bend "that" relay contact AND its mate just enough so they will make contact with each other just "after" the transmit-relays key the radio.
Basically, all you are doing here is just changing the timing of the two audio contact points. The audio relays will then make contact just "after" the transmit relays make contact.
Before you do any of this, use a clean piece of paper and then pull it through each set of contacts while they are closed. It's just possible that all they need is just a good cleaning.

Hi Jeff. I tried what you suggested and still happens. Cleaned it all up and still the same. Speaker pops when I key up to transmit. I did isolate the audio with the paper I used to clean the relays with (no audio contact made) and when it keys up, it still pops the speaker. Anything else? |

If you want to go through all that work again, you can try it just the opposite way. See if you can get the audio to make contact last.
I know you went through a lot of work and I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you. Maybe someone else has some ideas also.
If worse come to worse, you may have to use a different mic. That popping would drive me nuts too.
