Technology keeps changing faster than I can keep up with it. The local repeater group here in my area (Amateur Radio) has had a similar product running on the 2Meter repeater for about a year or so. Very little use, but once in awhile someone will use the codes to connect into another Country! Sounds like locals having a discusssion, but when you hear an Australian accent, it's unmistakeable.

More fun to try DX thru an antenna to me...

Too bad. The Canadians must have been a close second to us Okies. One weekend before Christmas, 1995, myself and a couple of other CB/computer freaks were using Speak Freely to do the same thing. We had a guy in California link up one day to listen after he found us on the Speak Freely directory, and by the next afternoon we were hooked up between OKC and San Bernardino, with the radios running on ch37, I think. That went on for about a month until I got tired of having the computer tied up all day with that.

About the same time, I had a simplex CB repeater running part-time using the old Soundblaster Parrot program and a Ramsey VOX board on a Midland 77-882 on ch11.
