It's on eBay. Pretty advanced radio for 1978.
Anyone know anything about these?

Too bad that radio isn't in working condition. They pop up on eBay from time to time. I think the last "working" one I saw there went for about $600.

1978 was a great year for CB radio, when the FCC finally banned the sale of 23 ch sets and the manufacturers ramped up the competition. To top it off, we were climbing up Solar cycle 21. The skip was daily and loud. The "big" radios of the day were:

ARF2001 (I've never actually heard on on the air)
Stoner Pro-40 (expensive and a real "woodie")
Browning Golden Eagle MKIVa (AMers delight)
CPI 2000B(lots of accessories)
Cobra 2000 GTL
Robyn 540D
Tram D300 (no freq counter, but a nice radio)

1977-82 was the heyday of SSB CB, in my opinion. Back then, you could still get on ch16 either sideband and talk all over the country barefoot. If you were serious, you had a 40ch rig and were talking to Australia, South Africa and Europe almost daily with a nominal 3-el beam.

Ahhhh for the old days. It was a lot less crowded and the band was sweeter....Or maybe it's just nostalgia..

RD & 707,
I was just young and dumb back then, didnt even know what SSB meant, and was not even aware of those daily awesome conditions from 77 to 82. The neat thing I like about eBay is to see all the old radios up for sale, sometimes it's just like touring a radio museum.

Ah, the good old days! ;-)
