Hey folks! Thought I would stop by here and drop a line to all the loyal Copper customers on the forum.

For those who know me, it's good to talk to you again. For those who don't, and I see a lot of new handles here, let me introduce myself to you.

My name is Steve, and I was one of the founding techs/moderators of the Copper Forum several years ago. "307" and I layed the bricks for the foundation that has made this forum, the best on the internet. The other members of the team that have joined along the way have done a hell of a job in building this discussion board to it's 46,653 posts as of this writing. There is an unbelievable amount of knowledge contained here, and a minimal amount of B.S. That's why Copper is on top, and the others, well, are there any others left?!

So anyway, I am employed by the government at the County level as a communications technician. Myself, and four others maintain the radio infrastructure for the County's 911 emergency services radio system. This includes all police, fire, and EMS radio equipment, tower sites, and interconnectivity for a county of almost 500,000 people. Been doing this for almost a year, love it, and can't think of anything else I would rather do. I have learned a heck of a lot on this job, and I can apply alot of it to you on this forum.

I am going to return to the forum part-time to once again answer some of your questions. This time I am going to do things a little differently though.

I will not answer questions about particular models of radios. In other words, I will not answer a question on how to modify a MB8719 PLL, or install a RB switch in a SS3900. Why? Because I just don't have the time to look up the information on the hundreds of radios out there.

I will answer questions pertaining to antenna and feedline systems, mobile and base installations, system wiring, connecivity, system grounding, and the like. I will continue to give you straight forward, honest answers to you're questions, and I will not be afraid to voice my opinion on the rumours, myths, and other urban legends out there. Frankly, if I think something is junk, or overrated by the manufacturer, you're gonna know it!

I am going to handle most of the questions by E-Mail, and my address is under my signature below. I don't really have the time to search through the threads to find the questions. If I don't answer your question, post it in the forum in the correct location and I am sure one of the other guys will answer it for you.

Whoever reads this first, is the first to know I am coming back!

Å

Hello Steve:

Thanks for the tip on the joint compound in another thread.

You must be a "scarred veteran" if you were involved with this forum from the beginning...

Welcome back from a "newbie"

Man what a ride. I was fairly new here when you were predicting 10,000 post, then it became a reality a few months later. It's been awhile for sure.

Welcome back Tech181. Some of us have gotten quite a bit smarter, although that is debatable LOL! I'm still running my old Lincoln you helped me fix in threads long sinced archived and by e-mail, plus much more new equipment.

I hope you have time to jump on the CEF NET Sunday.

Welcome back Steve, it's good to have you back.
