Why did the frequency get put with the 10 kc above certain frequencies to begin with? So that you could keep each section to " 40 channels" within? Also, please check my post on jumpers in the ask the tech under general tech ?'s. Thanks for the education in advance on the reason for the 10 kc's above.

Im not shure what your saying but the 10 khz spaces on the oringal 23 were based on the use of AM transmitters. some spaces exsised for class C radios like 23a and 19a and the space between 19 and 20 is 20 khz with 19a a class c frequency in between NOTE class c is usaly called remote control

I guess I need to be more specific. I saw the frequency chart, and it shows on there, like 3A, 7A, 11A, 15A, and 19A. Why was it done this way? Why not just continuous frequency numbers? Remember Bruce, I am just trying to learn. Thanks.

Keith...go look at the Radio Controlled (R/C) toys at Radio Shack or other toy stores. Notice the labels on some controllers and R/C's will say "27MHz". These toys use the "A" channels or "half" channels as commonly referred to!

Also, another little known fact is that Ch. 23 is also available to one-way paging systems with a max power of 5 watts output. Hense, some of the cheaper desktop paging systems sold by Radio shack and others in the past years work on 27.255MHz...and if memory serves my right the devices require no FCC approvals to be sold! The noise they make on the air sounds like a 2-stroke engine thats missing real bad and will drive you crazy, and it lasts for about 5 to 10 seconds depending on the brand of system.

Wanna have fun with the toy devices...key up on Ch. 14 and whistle up and down and watch the toys respond. lol Have fun!

MR RF
Just remember some of those "toys" that use the "A" channels cost more thasn your radio setup. Mnay Oldies are still legally using radio control equipment in planes and boats that run 27MHz
