I got a night K that needs the contacts cleaned. Whats the best way to clean them??? Also the push to talk works fine but the grip to talk dosent seem to engage the contacts like it should...It cuts out when I use the grip and dosent when I use the push....Any way to adjust this??
Thanks
Buck

Buck,

For what its worth. Comming from me that might not be much.
Get contact cleaner from Rat Shack or other supply house. Spray it on a piece of 3x5 card and slide that between the contacts.
Looking in the bottom of the mic you should find mounting screws for the push bar. Sometimes they are loose and just tightening them helps a lot.
Hope that helps a little.

Thanks Ironmask....I didnt have any contact cleaner so I used alcohol on a 3x5 card....Worked like a charm. Now if I could just get used to my first desk mic....They take some getting used to

Buck,
They had a problem with the "Chicken choker" on that mic. Astatic used to have a fix for that, something about usind a stronger ceramic rod inside instead of plastic. Most of them had that problem after awhile.

Yea ive noticed that also...But heres what I did to fix it. While I had it apart cleaning the contacts...I put several layers of black tape on top of the piece the plastic rod pushes on....That seemed to solve the problem...It tightened everything up in there and no more cutting out

I just have the plain vanilla knight eagle and have to clean contacts every third use,so I set it aside and use my tug-9 pure chicken choker, never ever had a problem with that one.Bigbob

I have heard that about the Eagle series, Bigbob. I wonder why the contacts get dirty so fast in these?? I really like the looks of the Night K Eagle...I could do without the K part....I Never use any roger beep but I have it if I ever need it.LOL Im going to try this thing for a while and if it dosent live up to my expectations...Well I might ebay it and go back to a handheld....Im still not used to it....Just seems weird talking without holding a mic in my hand
