I drive a truck locally in Chicago and want to get the most that I can from my Cobra 25 LTD. I'm running a Predator 10K antenna and have had my radio peaked and tuned. What else can I do to really get out there? I can't run a linear in my truck because it is against company regulations.
I was thinking about changing to bigger finals, will this make a big difference?

no, not a big difference. the only difference that you will really see from this is that your wallet will be lighter. if the final is already blown, sure, you might as well drop in a 1969, but i don't advice doing it just for the few extra watts it will give you over a perfectly working stock final.

you may want to look into a stinger board. they will produce around 70w. many places will tell you 100w, but don't believe them. anyway, 70w is more than doubling what that radio will do with a peak and tune.

if you don't know, a stinger board is a very small amp that goes inside the radio. you remove the internal speaker, and the stinger mounts where the spkr was. you will have to use an external spkr, but most drivers do anyway. the best part is the company you work for will never know you have a little help in there. you should be able to find a shop out there on the road that installs these. that is if 307/copper doesn't already do this. you may want to check with them 1st.

Thank you SS8541. I never heard of a stinger board before. I will have to ask the few CB shops in my area if they can install one.
