And a lot of times cant read my own writing. Its not a good deal. My question is : I want simple program that keep track of contacts.Anybody got a few suggestion? i doint care if its freeware or buy it software. Also windows 98.Thanks for any help.

Hal,

Easiest way is go to Wal-Mart or 1$ store near you and get a Spirial Bound school note book abiut a doller.

Then draw 5 lines down page.
one for CEF Number, One for Handle, One for Time, and One for State / Country

One Book last's a year and handy to store and go back to.

Or get two or three and make one just for CEF Net's and others for general DXing.

Or if you want to get FANCY or OFFICIAL go to the ARRL Web Site and get the ARRL LOGBOOK, about 5 or 6 dollers I think. They are a good Paper Logbook and easy to use.

The notebook is a fine idea. That way yo can design the pages to your specific needs.

Also, I use software written by a ham for my ham stuff. you may be able to adapt it to your uses. Check out http://www.n3fjp.com/

Hal,

I just print out a copy of the membership list and lay out in front of me. Then when I hear or talk to a CEF member I just put a little mark by the CEF number and a "C" for contact or an "H" for heard. And you can also see right where the contact is and who you are talking to cause the CEF list is right in front of you.

Like this:

9:34 AM C- CEF 124 Cactusjack Lyn Vista CA USA

Hope that helps
Lyn

if you have excel you can do the same thing with with this that any of these others are saying to do on paper. that way, unless you lose your computer, you'll have it. just remember where you save it on your h.drive.

Lyn & Hal,

As soon as I get a New Member's request for a CEF Number and Issue a Number, I always go directly to the CEF Membership List and up date it as well as the States and Member's by States in the CEF Section.

That way I do not forget and the CEF Membership List is always current and UP to DATE for the CEF Member's.

So it help's to check it Every Sunday Morning before the Net's to see the Latest NEW Member's I have added.

The last CEF Number I issued to date was #252

Use the spreadsheet on your computer....

All computers come with that bundled Microsoft Suite program.

If you are willing to spend about $30 and bring yourself into the 21st Century, you might look at a computer program called "N3FJP's amateur radio software". As you can tell from the name, it is meant for Ham operators, but it works great for CB and the numbers we all use. Including the COPPER Forum numbers.

If you have a computer next to your radio it is really a great program. It allows you to list all of the answers to those questions we all ask each other.... What radio? Antenna? CEF number? State? Country?

Tech 808,

That is what I do. Every sunday morning I make a fresh copy. That way I have a clean slate to mark on. Works real good for me.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL, if you use a logging program and talking on the radio, and talking in the Chat Room, then you will really be bouncing back and forth between the Radio, Turning Beam's, Logging Program and CHAT ROOM,

GEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZ I get lost now just writing the numbers down as fast as I can and keeping up with the Chat Room Conversation, and IM's coming in, and contact's all at same time.
