With a brand new Lincoln and after only
14 days of use, how is it that I have
audio being fed back into the internal speaker during transmit,
and according to the copper tech , , It has been caused by the way I'm using the radio ?
Lets see.... never been on full power
SWR thru the band ( I use) is LESS then 1;1 ratio.
95% RG8x mini coax. ( Tuned 108" steel whip)
Radio power supply , , hooked to the battery
in the vehicle.
Went from a Astaic636, which was supplied AND wired by copper, which worked like #@#&* to
the stock mic which worked just fine.
How is it " The way I'm using the radio"
cuased a failure in the audio circut ???
I know this won't be posted but I would really like some feed back as to how.

I talked to our tech and he did not say you caused the problem. He said he couldn't get the radio to operate the way you wanted it to. He then offered to refund your money.

Tech307 was called to consult with on this problem and he agreed with our in house tech. I don't know what else we could do.

If I crank my tug-9 stand past 1/4 on my dx2517,I get audio feed-back,I just turn it about 1/16,the reason I use the d-104 desk mike is because I like the looks,your reason could be the same,if the lincoln came from Copper then it won't take any help it doesn't need it,just breathe on the mike gain on the mike and it should be all right.One thing you should check,does it have a 7-foot coil cord,if so,do you have your antenna mounted in such a way that you can see it's shaft through any glass,again if so then shorten the mike cord to 4 feet or mount the antenna above all glass to avoid radiating your radio,a friend had this problem he shortened his mike cord,plus had ferrite beads installed in his radio on mike line,the mike cord was acting like a resonant antenna and squealed badly.He moved antenna first but was too high,liked shorter mike cord better,if you're a trucker applying metal mesh window screen with gel-coat to the inside surface of the fiber glass cab,making sure to interlace it all,will make it as effective as a metal cab,but it's a lot of work.Bigbob

Again.."according to copper tech" who is me , it is NOT the way you are using it.(I still have no clue where that came from) It is in ALL 2510's and Lincolns. There is a site which President wrote on "how to remove the flaw"

I will offer to do this mod for you for FREE , however a new radio WILL do the same...

No BIGBOB.
I tried two sets of coax, two steel whips re-cut to resonate frq. ( and I mean it is far less than 1;1 ) Tried moving the mic to different spots
in the cab of the truck, thinking it was picking up stray rf. Nothing I did changed the feed back.
( power settings, chanel ect ect )
No one seemed to mind though. Always got
very good audio signal report : operating
at approx. 12 watts.
Called the tech at copper, sent the radio in . . . and you have read the rest. I'm very pleased with the Licoln and the operations on the unit. I t is to bad I have had this problem occure and the negative feelings and post it has caused.
If had the chance to purchase a Licoln again,
I certainly would. ( I now have down loaded the
several mods and including the one concerning
the audio-talk back , from a publication by : Roger Perales, on the HR2510 & Licoln)

Well mikefromms : Being honest, direct and to
the point, is and a sure way to get into trouble.
But that IS the way I am. To me,
there is no other way to be. I have always been
quick to speak whats on my mind AND in most
cases, gets a very loud rebuke. ( ref to the current posts) But, those who do know me personaly know exactly where I stand
and they know my word is my bond !

Ok , So too , am I , going to be Honest and Direct to you as well.

I received the radio today. Turned it on and let it sit for 5 hours. Hooked it to an antenna and talked on it for "1" full hour. The "talkback" is extremely minimum,as a matter of fact it is "lower" than the usual. I added the "talkback removal" circuit. The radio was NOT TOUCHED IN ANY OTHER AREA. I want to make this clear BEFORE I send it back. Now let this topic rest...

Whether it's squeals, humms and buzzes, feedback in the radio speakers or vehicle stereo speakers, anti-lock brake faults, dashboard indicators, or windshield wipers engaging during transmit... whatever the symptom... RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) in a vehicle is without a doubt the hardest problem to solve, and it happens to even the best designed radio or best installation from time-to-time. And, it's hardly ever solved by phone calls. I know from experience, I've installed and serviced literally thousands of private, commercial, broadcast and other radio installations I can't mention.

While some radios may be more suspectible to RFI than others, and radio mods may be available to improve results, the bottom line is beating up the retailer solves nothing...they didn't design or manufacture the radio, they just sold it! Most dealers don't even have a tech, a service shop, or even technical assistance on the side.

Why don't some people grow up? Acting like a bully to the retailer is childish and stupid!

Merry Christmas and thanks Copper for going the extra mile and being MORE than most retailers ever dream of providing!
