I just ordered a Magnum 257 from everything I have read and heard those are good little radios. Im limited in space here so I had to go with that type of radio. Im going to put a D-104 on it after it gets here. Copper said they were out of them now but would have them in after the first of the year. I cant wait to get my hands on it. I got ahold of a Top One GP new in the box from a guy here for $25.00 so I will put it up. So I hope to try to contact some of yall on the net as soon as I get it up and running.

Just received mine about a week and a half ago, installed and I can honestly say, AWESOME radio. I'm a ham as well, and I can tell you that this radio is top notch, audio reports on AM and SSB are outstanding (with the stock mic). I don't see why you would need the D104 with this model, you will also loose the ability to move up and down the band with the up/down buttons on the stock mic. As a matter of fact, you have to be careful not to overdrive the radio with the stock mic. Just set the mic gain about 1/3 to 1/2 the way up the dial and you should not have a problem. By the way, I use a maxrad 1/4 whip, no fancy predator, wilson 5000, etc. (never could understand those massive coils on some of the antennas out there, yes I know they are a little more efficient, but is 10 milliwatts more out really going to make that much of a difference???). I own a Ford Ranger (2003), there is a bolt hole behind the ashtray. I drilled a hole in the ashtray, bolted it in place, and bolted the radio mount to the ashtry. A very clean and professional looking installation given the few mounting options in many of the newer cars these days. Good luck, the biggest pain in the arse will be soldering that PL-259...

I got mine to use as a base for a little while then its going in my Explorer. Thats the reason for the D-104. Im not into all the bells and whistles the other radios I have looked at have. It will serve as a base until spring then I will think about what I will replace it with.

The MAG-257 has everything you need what else could you use on a cb set? If your going to go up from this radio the only good step is to a ham radio....
